I was going to add in my post, but forgot - a lot of psychoanalytical case studies detail the collapse of the therapy back into the original neurosis after the initial gains, before further changes - seems quite a common process, there's an exact piece of lingo I forget. I suppose we can see this on a grander scale with the Utopianism of the 60's giving way to the reactionary politics of the eighties.

yeah there are some great thoughts expressed here.
I also had some profound revelations in the early 90ies rave scene , back then I lived in europe.
I never really got into E that much ( although I did enjoy and appreciate the occasional hi quality MDMA experience), I always stuck to my roots as a convinced acid head.

I actually got sucked into the rave thing coz somebody told me I can get good acid at those parties in '89 (how about that parallael to Johnny O's quest to hook up liquid at a goth club !) I did get the acid, and I started throwing my own parties and making the music soon after

The initiation I had gotten via LSD earlier pre-"rave" then swept over into the mass tribal experiences at some of the parties. That was the perfect breeding ground for a magickal & shamanistic understanding of our world.

Its nice to think back, and hear other peoples stories.

I'm now again starting to dabble with psychadelics a bit, after about 10 years break, but could not imagine going to a club doing it.... we used to have some great underground parties (under 200 folks) here in the californian desert, that could be a good environment for combining magick, dancing, drugs.
Unfortunately I am out of the loop at this point and only know of larger parties where I wouldn't feel comfortable , full moon or not

does anybody know of any in family sized californian events?

I think the longterm effect of those parties and drugs are apparent in our generation and those who follow. the criminalization as well as internal corruption of the whole thing is a natural progression, but the "damage" has been done, and its here to stay, having infiltrated mass pop culture. yay.
