I'm sure we've been over this before, but just to shed a little more light on the Morrison/Superman story...
Grant Morrison, Mark Millar, Tom Peyer and Mark Waid were approached by one faction of DC to make a proposal for their Superman comics. They sent in the proposal, WHICH THEY WERE ASKED FOR, and apparently the faction they sent the proposal to were not made aware of this fact. This faction called foul, saying that the Morrison/Millar/Peyer/Waid team were trying to steal the current teams' jobs. Morrison and co. were told that they would never work on Superman again. In the process, Two of the artists on Supes were fired, then almost immediately rehired, though they turned DC down. One big mess.
The writers were very, very upset to lose their dream job over a bureaucratic miscommunication. In interviews, Morrison said he was quitting comics right after the Invisibles and JLA were done.
I saw Waid at a Q and A in Toronto a few years back. He said their proposal was to have everyone in the world forget that Lois and Clark had been married, including Lois. This would bring it all back to basics, with the added bonus that Clark would have to start back at square one knowing that he had once been married to the woman he loved. |
