Okay, I'm not going crazy. I checked last night, Persephone, and my copy has exactly the same passage but with Lily and James in opposite roles. Perplexed by this, I called my brother at work, at a bookstore, and he checked 3 copies there, all of which were the same as mine. You must have a corrected version and no one in Canada has noticed the error. Who published your copy? I think I may e-mail Raincoast books (the publisher here), though they've probably heard it a million times.

A friend of mine said that in an interview not long after the movie was released, she was asked what would happen to Harry after he graduates from Hogwarts, or turns 18 or whatever. Supposedly she said "Why do you americans always assume that Harry's going to live that long?". oooOOOOOoooo....

Also the Dursleys I reckon are going to die horribly at some point, when the summer holidays are no longer safe like they have been.

Also that expression on Dumbledore's face when harry tells him about the blood. I caught it as more of a 'Got him!' expression as he's now linked to Harry.

I so want to know what Snapes story is, Dumbledore trusts him implicitly, why?

And as for JK Rowling being a bad writer, well yeah, Eddings got away with only having good characterisation for years. But Harry Potter is gatewate literature in my head, get the kids in on that, feed em a bit of Diana Wynne Jones and Phillip Pullman and then put the price up

Actually, the 4th book finally cemented Snape as a goodie for me. I was wary, wondering why Dumbledore would have trusted him. But doesn't it say somewhere in that book that Snape turned spy for the good side while still under Voldemort's watch, and that's why Dumbledore trusts him. Or am I just assuming that? I'm pretty sure that's what Dumbledore is asking Snape to do again, though Voldemort seems pretty sure that one of his Death Eaters has left forever. I would think Snape returning to the fold would cause some suspicion.

That's not a bad guess. I mean, I can see that happening without much suspension of disbelief. And it'd be more interesting than if Ron were just offed. Harry v.s. Ron! Throw in some jealousy of Hermione, a couple deaths of major characters, and you got half a book.

Dumbledore talking to Harry. So, my guess, that's what the look of triumph in Dumbledore's eyes at the end of book 4 is. Harry has technically saved Voldemort's life by restoring him. Doubly so, as Wormtail, who is already indebted to Harry helped with the restoration too. And even if I'm wrong, it makes me feel way better than DUmbledore being a bad guy, even if I am just deluding myself.

I kind of hope that's not what's keeping the next book. Do you think she feels she has to outdo the last one, both in scope and size? I just finished rereading the third one, and it's a fine size. I'd hate to think that they're all going to be as huge as Goblet, 'cause for one thing, that's just awkward to carry around with you

I doubt it, actually... I think that Goblet, being the fourth and central book, probably has a great deal of stuff in it which sets up events to come - perhaps one reason why it's so huge... (long time since I read it though, so might be worng about this).

well from reading all the thread from here. Its made me think bout the HOle sarga of Harry potter!
I ve enjoyed teh booksloads but i was dissapointed with the film mainly becuase i felt it was no substitute for my own imagination of how it shud of been portrayed.
I feel that ther coudl b sumthing in the suggestion of dumbledors dark side. Mainly because thru books 1 to 4 the theme that dumbledor is teh only one that can defeat voldermort is very suspicious. DUmbledoor could actualy bb teh main evil one an voldermort is lil minion and dumbledor has simply choosen to use voldy as a cover!

Then again the whole look of triumph on his face coudl b due to the fact that he realised he cud use harry as a trap to get voldermort as they are linked by blood now.

also i reckon it seeing as we have been told one main charactor cies it will b sumone like serius Black as that wud just cause such mayhen as we all deep down want harry to go live with him.

did it occur to any of you that maybe it will be harry and hermione, and that maybe there will be a new charcter introduced and ron will fall in love w/ her and vice versa? i mean, y'all could be right on the whole ron and hermione thing, but who knows? maybe it will be harry and hermione...
also, like others said, maybe ron will die...and then its only harry and hermione left...who knows! i cant wait till these things are revealed!
also, ive read that there is going to be a supposed "love triangle" in the third movie between h/r/h. i think this is wrong! there never was any of that stuff in the third book! why should they put this in the movie, i know they are, but why! its wrong! anyways...this is just wat ive read.
