Moles are so noble (little Friendly Star-nosed Moles even more so) and have played pivotal roles throughout history.
When I were a lad, my latterday Jacobite Grandad would toast "the little gentleman in black velvet" who tripped up William of Orange's horse, thus extinguishing the usurper king.
Moles are practically worshipped in Mexico for their chocolaticity, hence Mole Poblano and Oaxaca's Black Mole.

Did you know that Cleopatra VII passed laws in Ancient Egypt to protect the earthworm? No mention of the kakapo in the hieroglyphic texts. |
