Off he goes

Yes, the other night was nice- a lot of people huddled (or maybe even huggled) into a full-to-capacity upstairs room at the pub. Drank too much as ever, realising that I was at the point of no return amidst an Expressionless/Tom Coates tete-a-tete about NLP and things which started to go right over my head.
I missed the speech but it sounded grand, from what I was told.

Hello to everyone who came along. I'm going to post something in The Conversation in a moment, but I've got merely one thing to say:

Thank you.

Thank you for showing up. Thank you for bringing presents when unnecessary, buying beer perhaps inadvisedly, and for Being There. Thanks to everyone who journeyed from outside Lunnon to get here - Paleface, Ephemerat, JtB, Miss Spooky, Expressionless, Plums, Ganesh and Zocher - everyone (including anyone I've boozily forgotten) who gave a shit and took time out of their schedules to come and have fleeting conversation with an increasingly pissed me. Thank you to Lurid Archive and Mordant C@rnival for helping me through the Green Man, just when it all seemed fucking iron-black and hopeless. Thank you for it all. I'll stop now before I start singing "Kum-By-Ya", but.. y'know? You ALL fucking rock. With fists of steel. And I fucking hate that I'm not going to be able to get together with any of you for a couple of years. I would hope that an Australian barbetrip is on the cards sometime...

I'm really sorry I couldn't be there. I did give a shit... I was just required at the stag party for my sister's wedding.

(sigh)

What about "thank you for the drugs, uncle Jack?"

I get no respect 'round here.

That's because you invented the Titmus Test, brother dear.

Respect? Surely you're not fishing for a bit of Sacha Baron Cohen?

Ahem.

But thanks are in order. Purely because I think it stopped me from topping myself later on in the evening.

Apropos of which...

Did you hear about the ice-cream seller who was found dead in his van, covered in 'hundreds & thousands'?

They reckon he topped himself.

See, expressionless had to look after spooky, ephemerat and myself on Saturday night on the way back to Southampton, otherwise Bad Things could have happened to us on the way home. The fact that he spent the entire journey (and the ninety minute layover in Basingstoke) giggling like a loon and making foolish comments while under the influence of nothing but his own dear pre-school mentality is neither, here, there, nor everywhere.

I too would like to say thanks to everyone who turned up... wasn't my party, but I did have a stake in its success, and I reckon it was pretty successful (and we only took about ten CDs home - you chaps are all suckers...).

That reminds me: has anyone actually listened to their CD yet?

and did anyone get 'pro choice on mental health'? or could you not bear to part with it, rothkoid?

Oh, I listened to Houston's 6 X Lover on the way back. Fucking shite it was too - though not as shite as you made out.

Still love the Interview track, though; nightmarish. Can make mp3s available if anyone wishes to hear this monstrosity.

Suzuki in Dub good, though.

Well, I got Lit's 'Atomic' and found to my surprise it was okay, competent enough rock and not as wanky as their website and guitarist's ill-advised facial hair experimentation would suggest. And no, I'm not blocking anything out.
