Actually, I don't take any drugs, and I rarely even drink.

I'd advise taking any sort of job that you can find right now, just for something to do and the discipline that it enforces.

Again, I'll advise the opposite. A shit job will not make you feel any better. And telling potential employers that you've had three jobs in the last year because you didn't like any of them is lots worse than telling them you've been unemployed, traveling, volunteering, deciding that their company is exactly what you're looking for.

And stay away from the acid.

My bad.

You should do some heroin though. It fixes everything. I mean, fuck acid, ya.

Yeah, fucking smack sorts everything. After all, life gets a lot simpler when you turn into a deceitful, soulless, thieving, lying piece of shit. And the chicks dig it!

Especially when you share your dope with them.

I think I just killed your thread. I'm sorry.

Hey Flux - I get back to this place after a week off, Rothkoid's fired, Crunchy's evicted, and you're in the doldrums. (I can only assume that you're Australian too.)

I don't have advice for them, but for the creative thing, I think I do. Do something really dirt simple, "outsider," and half-baked.
Get a disposable camera and take a few snapshots.
Play guitar on a streetcorner.
Write and record a song in less than 30 minutes.
Do it punk DIY style, fast, furious, and freaky.
Then look at what you did and start tweaking it. See where a little polishing would make it cool. Get ideas. Have fun.
Have fun.
Have fun.

Flux is actually a Noo Yawker like myself. And things are quite rough around here these days, jobwise and otherwise.

But those are some good ideas, grant

Hey Grant...I've already started working on some little quicky projects, and it's helping me along pretty well. I've been fucking around with my instruments just to get back in the habit of using them, singing whenever I can, and I've been writing a lot, including one strange net project which I'm going to keep quiet about it's meant to be anonymous.

Things are getting better overall - I still haven't gone to any kind of counsellor, but I've been feeling a LOT more motivated, and having started this thread has been a huge help for me. I really appreciate just about everyone's input, thank you very much.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic about the Australian thing.
Good to know the ball is rolling, though.

Your sarcasm wasn't immediately obvious in that post, grant. Thanks for the clarification.

Sarcasm?! Australia?!

Fuckya!

Ahem. Sorry. Never mind me. I'm piggybacking off the ideas here, 'cos the St John's Wort isn't working for me, either.

I've tried St. John's Wort in the past, and I popped one of the leftover pills I had last week, and I've never noticed much of a difference. I think that it's a placebo at best...

That seems to be what I'm hearing from other people I know who've been on it at times, too: it either takes too long to work, or doesn't at all, so they end up going back to booze.

Which may not be the best of all possible plans...

I dont think relying on anything for some sort of medicinal cure is a good idea (unless, of course, you have a medical condition)

eat better, exercise, sleep well but not too much, and when you are feeling really fucking hellish get out of the house. even if you are a shivering wreck, pull a comb through your hair, brush your stanky teeth and go somewhere, anywhere. trust me on this one

not that i advocate, ya know, outright deceit, but if you want to get some professional help, and you're on your parents' medical plan, you can go without telling them, most likely... since you're over 21 i don't think they can see your medical records unless they're subpoenaed for a court case. i might be wrong, but i often used to go to doctors on the sly in my rowdier days. dunno. just, maybe one option. anyway - you're loved
