Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors!!! I loved that cartoon! Haven't thought of it in years... the toys were rather crap though.

I liked the Wuzzles. A bear! And a lion! At the same time! Called... bumblelion! Shit. Can't be beat.

I've got the Thundercats movie on video. And I watched it the other day. Say what you will, but I found it be a most enjoyable experience.

What the fuck is thunder cats?

You don't know about the Thundercats? I find that hard to believe.

Here's all you need to know.

There's a group of cat people all named after the big cats. You know like Lion-o, Panthro, Cheetara, Tigra, and Wily-Kit and Wily-kat. Anyway, Lion-o has this magic sword. Ok, so they get stranded on this primitive planet after their ship blows up. Lion-o is all grown up. They have to fight this mummy guy named Mumra every episode or so. And every episode Mumra says something like "Ancient spirits of evil, transform this decayed body into Mumra, the ever-living!". They fight, mumra loses.

I'm Mumra?

Indeed! And those cartoons were good. But the are insignificant when compared to the awesome power of: ROCKET ROBIN HOOD!

No, you're missing the "-". You must have a - to really be Mum-Ra. You're just a pale imatation, of MUM-RA - THE EVER LIVING!!

ONLY NICE THINGS

Mumm-ra, actually.

And how any sane human being can deny that Ulysses 31, with its combination of Greek mythology, incomprehensible Frenchness and a really fit bloke with blue skin, is the daddy is simply beyond me.

Mumm-Ra...show him his reflection and he squeals like a piggy.

Bear
09:20 / 03.05.02
When I was a young un I wondered why they never just surrounded his pyramid with mirrors....

He is pretty damn evil though, much more so than Skeletor as I found out after downloading episodes of both...

What about Jayce and his Wheel Warriors though, they rocked didn't they?

Lazlo Woodbine [some call me Laz]
09:32 / 03.05.02
Of course it rocked.
It rocked even more when you found out that Jayce's dad was still alive and on the side of the plants,
"Ha ha ha, Jayce your dads a cunt."

But does anyone remember starblazers?
'cause i think i do but i'm not sure.

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!

Yeah but what about Visionaries? eh? eh?

Bear
09:54 / 03.05.02
You know, I never did find out what happened to Jayce and his dad, I never thought they told you. I must have blocked it out...

Our Lady of The Two Towers
11:49 / 04.05.02
And they spend most of the first episode nekkid, in which it is posed the question 'why are the mutants attacking the Thundercats when their clear lack of genitalia shows that they'll all die out with this generation'. Also Mumm-Ra was quite a cool villain but everytime he actually fought anyone all he'd have to do was see his relection and run off screaming like a big girl.
Now Megatron, there was a guy who led from the front. Someone you could respect...

I actually watched Transformers: The Movie the other day. Utter shite.

And the ending... "And Optimus Prime would return..." What toss, I can't believe I was ever a fan.

Now the Turtles, they rocked the block.

Trijhaos

Wha-? Ho...how could you? *sniff*....tha...that movie wa...was so great *sniff*. The way Optimus sacrificed himself for the greater good *sniff*

I don't remember them saying anything about Prime returning in the movie. I'm quoting from memory here, but the last bits of dialogue are basically

Optimus' voice after Hot Rod picks up the matrix: Arise, Rodimus Prime.
Rodimus Prime: This is the end of the road Galvatron . Now light our darkest hour
Springer: Spike! Daniel!
Spike: Springer! What's going on?!
Springer: No time to answer that now. Let's get outta here!Daniel :LOOK!
Rodimus PRime: Autobots! Transform, and Roll Out!
Kup: I knew you had potential, lad.
Rodimus Prime: Let this mark the end of the Cybertronian Wars, as we march forward to a new age of peace and happiness.
Till All Are One!

See? Not a bit about Prime returning.

Yes, he does return. Quite a few times, but its never mentioned in the movie.

Yeah, I felt the same way about Star Wars. (runs)

"Rodimus Prime". And you thought only He-Man had a subtext.

Did not T:TM introduce a girl Transformer, by the way? Or am I dreaming that?

Trijhaos
16:23 / 04.05.02
It introduced Arcee, a pink sports car type transformer.

Elita-1 was actually the first female transformer. There was a cell of female autobots on cybertron that terrorized the decepticon faction there.

oh yes, that was it. "Arcee". Pink, like all girls. Can't remember anything else about her.

Oh god, I'm going to regret this.

After the U.S. series ended, there was a japanese series that dealt with headmasters and powermasters.

Daniel became Arcee's headmaster.

How to know that I am an old person on this board...

When the Transformers movie came out, a friend had me go, saying it woudl be great and I would love it. After 90 minutes of bad animation and a lot of shouting and explosions, the words The End came on the screen and I asked, "OK, who the hell were those robots. I have no idea what I just watched other than fight scenes."

To this day I have no idea what I watched.

"You got the touch..."

I remember the Headmasters from UK TV, i don't remember it being Japanese...

"The battle is over but the galaxy spanning adventures of the Transformers will continue and the greatest Autobot of them all, Optimus Prime will return"
- Said in voice over at the end of the film, as the Autobots are saying "Til all are one"

Headmasters was a japanese series. It may have been run in the UK, but I am 100% sure it was japanese in origin.

I must not have that part on my tape. I would have heard it by now.

I only really remember the bit from the theme tune that goes 'Transformers, robots in disguise', in this really staccato way. Barely remember the series at all. Thundercats were fucking cool, but, I've said it before and I'll say it again, nothing beats Children of the Sun. I wanted to *be* one, thank you very much. V. cool theme tune, too.

Ah...those were the days of real quality programming...

Re: Thundercats- I always wondered how they made such a giant fucking base out of their crashed spaceship, and... there were what 8 of them, how the fuck could they possibly... oh fergit it.

And wasn't it called "City of Gold"?

Trijhaos
22:04 / 04.05.02
Originally there were only 6 thundercats, unless you include Snarf which would make seven. A few more joined later on in the show, bringing their number up to 11 I believe including snarf and Snarfer.

What the fuck were the Lunatacks??

Trijhaos
22:10 / 04.05.02
Oh boy. Off the top of my head, they were an interstellar group that showed up when the new thundercats did. They basically took Mumm-ra's place. You know, all they wanted to do was get the Sword of Omens, for some reason or another.

The transformers had an episode featuring a robot ninja. How much more amzing if only it were a robot pirate....

But on a more pertinent note..Why kind of fishing???

Trijhaos
22:41 / 04.05.02
There was a robot pirate on Reboot. Or was it a robot? Anyway, it was a mechanical pirate dude. Robot ninjas aren't all that cool anymore. You know, why? Two words. Power Rangers. The Power Rangers had Ninjor, a robotic ninja on the show a few years ago.

This topic has strayed pretty far from the original post, hasn't it?
