Because I'm bored. Because it's Friday. And I feel dorky as hell. Wanna join and pimp some cool/obscure words?

Autologic - a term or sentence which is what it describes: abstract concept *is* an abstract concept.

Heterologic - a term or sentence which is not what it describes: monosyllabic is *not* monossylabic; list of presidents is *not* a list of presidents.

iniquity: wickedness, unrighteousness, gross injustice.

Example: Picking on someone for their intelligence is an act of the utmost iniquity.

Auto-authorative Lexipraxis - Coined by a friend and I to desribe the action which occurs in the situation where you need to convince someone that you know what you're talking about/doing/etc - terms are quickly spat out/strung together in a way that convinces the other you simply must know what you're doing. More benefits paid if technical terms are actually created in the process. Basically, pulling a technical vocab/jargon out of yer arse.

Actually, sesquipedalianism is just a tendency towards the use of long words; it has no component suggesting that these long words are deceitful or inappropriate. A common misconception. What is being described sounds more like a kind of non-legislative filibustering.

It's pretty Filiblustery in here right now.

Filiblustery - adj. Used to describe a turgid, interminable conversation. Especially when in engaged at high volume (hence "blustery") Or one who engages in such conversation.

Oh wait, that's not a real word at all.

Filibustery is a real word though, isn't it?

It's one of my favourites in fact.. it's an American political term refering to when a senator opposing a law/bill/whatever deliberately talks for an excessive amount of time in an attempt to prevent the law/bill/whatever being passed, right?

I prefer Ovimancy - predicting the future using the geometric arrangement of Sheep.

If I can't find a word that's appropriate, I just make one up. 2 examples: ... last week, Tom (not coates) camed into work and asked how my day was going. I said "I am all beflustered abotu everything", then laughed, as I'd not meant to make up a word.

also, after watching a film w/ some friends, and one of them commented on how an american actress had recently written a book called ' Cancer Schmancer' ... he found it annoying and litehearted, as his uncle died from cancer. Since I often use puns and plays on words in my humor, I then said " If you were a dark wizard, doing spells, you'd be a NECROSCHMANCER"
I cracked myself up, as well as them. It still makes me laugh 'oh the mighty necroschmancer, wielding his evil spells'

"Clique": Word thrown around randomly to earn points and rubbish groups of people who disagree with you, by implying that they are part of a huge and finely tuned blue-steel outsider-scrunching machine, instead of a small and disparate group who'll go back to sniping at each other the minute you've finished squabbling with them.

I like the word "special". It's quite the special one.

blurblifiry- random idiocy

"All you're doing is spouting out a bunch of blublifiry."

marvelia- "marvelous" nounified, though comic freaks mights give it meanings of their own

"That show was a marvelia!"

nounified- an adjective turned into a made-up noun

"marvelia- "marvelous" nounified, though comic freaks mights give it meanings of their own"

goomigified- adjective with negative connotations; doesn't really mean fuck all

That show was full of a bunch of goomigified posers!"

dillidort- noun with insulting connotations; doesn't really mean fuck all

You're such a dillidort. Get bent."

This should have gone under MC Mordant Carnivals neologism post, but it seems to have died like musicians who OD on The Needle.

Can someone please explain the difference between incestuous and incestual?

I tried google but don't really think it would be a good idea clicking on the links!

Specifically if one is talking of an incestual/incestuous industry...

Please help, Haus, WP, anyone?

The only answer I can come up with is that incestuous is a real word.

Hmm - www.yourdictionary.com didn't find incestual either, but a quick google search does suggest it is a real word. Is it an Americanism?

Incestual is not a word. Phyllorhodomancy is divination by rose petals.

My friends and I coined the verb 'To Pope', which is to avoid contacting someone (esp. phoning friends and relatives) because you haven't contacted them for ages and you feel guilty. I've poped people for years, and am poping my Nan right now.
