Ok - the new board is up and running and many of the original moderators have agreed to take up their old roles once more... But now we need MORE moderators - the new process should remove some of the excesses of yesteryear, but in return needs new people. Since to delete a thread requires three moderators, there have to be three people able to vote AFTER the first person suggests a change. That means we need three (+me) or four (without me) moderators in EVERY FORUM.

I need three or four people for the Policy - and I want REALLY old-timers on this one... People with a lot of investment in the functioning of the board. Ganesh if you'd be interested, I'd be delighted...

I've press-ganged Nick into the Head Shop - he doesn't know this yet - but I'm looking for two or three other people to help ease the burden for him. Anyone with an investment in theory or philosophy would be ideal. Again - the Head Shop is the forum that's closest to my heart, so I'm looking for people that I completely trust...

The Switchboard also needs two or three people to help Flyboy handle the load. Anyone with a particular investment in current affairs, politics and activism should probably stand up and be counted!

Lionheart and Lothar Tuppan are now Masters of Magick - I'm not particularly clued up about the Magick forum, I must confess - so I'm looking for people well known in the Magick who share its goals... Only need one or two people here...

MJ-12 and grant are now lords of the Laboratory - and they'll be ruling with an iron hand. MJ-12 has quite reasonably said that they don't know if he/she wil always be available, and as such I'm very definitely looknig for two more people for that place. Talk to grant if you want some more insight...

Rothkoid has graciously allowed me to stick his name on Art and Design - but he's going to need some company. This is a fairly underused forum, so it's going to be pretty light-work for someone who wants to try out being a moderator.

Books already has Kit-Kat Club and Persephone in power, but one more person will be needed to make the whole process as smooth as a baby's heavily lubricated bottom. WILL THAT PERSON BE YUO!?

Sleazenation and moriaty have taken over the comic book forum, but they need a friend to share the load. Volunteer while you still can...

Film and TV is all full up, but Music could do with one more moderator. Creation needs another two or three and Gathering needs a full complement.

Put yuorslef up for power TODAY!

Tom, I don't mind moderating the Gathering as well as the Conversation... I seem to organise half the London pissups anyway... ;>

I'd be interested in moderate for the Creation. But I only access Barbelith 8 hours/day, at work. Is that enough? I've been in Barbelith since april 2001 (w/ my old nick which flipped out and died).

Not that I would ever want or choose to be a moderator but in terms of easing the operational procedures, I would be inclined to say that, given the nature and character of the forum, a moderator from each of the other forums be made a moderator for the Policy.

Oh, and can I nominate expressionless as a moderator for the Magick?

I would possibly be interested in helping out in the Gathering. It tends to be somewhere I hang about quite frequently.

The only down side is that I currently only have day-time access, so I don't know if that would be a problem.

Whatever you think!

I'd be up for offering my services in a moderating capacity, basically anywhere bar the Magic or Creation, where I don't really participate. But probably it'd be best to wait until after this weekend when I'll have a new computer and browser which hopefully won't throw up whenever I try to go to Barbelith...

I would like to nominate May Tricks for the Magick moderator is she's interested...and I could be a "trainee" for the comics section since it is near and dear to my heart.

I'll help on either Music or TV/film if you want.
Spend most of my time there anyway.

Ditto to Uncle's volunteering.

Ooo! Or since Film, TV, etc is full, I wouldn't mind helping in Creation.

Seconded. I volunteer, actually. But yeah, it makes sense.

Seems to me that given the nature of Policy that pan-board representation would not only lend balance but ensure that, like Conversation, be important that all forums have a voice in the other forum that has the capacity to span all others.

Just in case anyone in a moderator capacity was wondering why I'm trying to heap more burden and responsibility on them.

Hmmm...nobody wants to help moderate the Books forum?

I'm interested, unless one of the Barbelith veterans wants the position.

Errrrr ... thanks for faith in me for moderatorship. I just checked the Gathering forum and nearly had a heart-attack because there were suddenly all these features that hadn't been there last time!

:-)

Ciao for now and see you in The Gathering

I'd be willing to toss my hat in for the Laboratory.

I heartily second this nomination.

I think I'd be around enough to help out with the Art and Design threads...

Ierne
17:57 / 27.03.02
I would like to also highly recommend expressionless for the Magick, hopefully he's available and interested.

(I'd offer to do it, but I really don't have enough technological web know-how.)

Ierne

Although if Lionheart & Lothar think they can train me... what the hell, I'll go for the Magick too.

Nietzsch E. Coyote

If I'm acceptable I'd be willing to moderate in the Magick. I'm new but I spend a lot of time in the magick.

Tom, just make me amoderator of each single forum that way when I venture out from my usual forums I can moderate the other ones.

I can't believe this.

It seems everybody wants to be a magick moderator.

Am I the only one who wants to be a moderator in books?

What's wrong, isn't it exciting enough?

Lothar Tuppan
19:33 / 27.03.02
Yay expressionless!! (I just noticed his name added to the list of moderators in the Magick).

For other moderators for the Magick I would recommend any of these fine folk, if they are willing and available: Wyrd, Ierne, cusm, Rev. Jesse, and Grant.

Yay me! (althought I got a bit of a disheartened "Does that mean you'll spend even more time on the computer?" from Snapping Turtle. Hee hee...)

Thanks guys. I second Ierne, and reckon Mordant Carnival would be great too.

I'd be up for moderating the Lab (since we seem to have plenty much interest in moderating the Magick). Are people cool with that as an idea? I know there's some folk I haven't seen eye-to-eye with in the past who might feel uncomfortable about having me as a mod.

Matthew Fluxington

I'd be happy to pull double-duty and help moderate the comics forum, if you want me to.

Also, I'd like to nominate Autopilot Disengaged for moderation duties in the Creation...

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

I also wouldn't mind helping out in books if you're stuck...

BookLand rocks like a bastard!

What are the duties of a moderator? How available must a moderator be? I could do the Comics thang, if I'm qualified...

Yeah, I'd be up for the comics section too.

The Return Of Rothkoid

I'd still like to suggest that everyone who's a mod be made to keep an eye on Conversation, too. It'd help it flow faster, y'know...

A bit late maybe, but I'm prepared to fill any spaces that are still vacant in Books or Creation..
