Taking over from Flame On's queries a little (just 'cause I know that nobody's duds are gonna fit me), how much exactly is this stuff? I mean, the wardrobe element?

Ganesh
13:28 / 11.02.02
Depends. You're probably better checking out Mordant's thread in the Conversation for proper advice...

If I'm not going to be the only first timer, I'd like to come along, if that'd be ok...

er... inside leg 32-34" usually. Tho it seems to vary for some reason. I suppose I must have tall days. Waist 30-32". A skinny bastard am I.

We need to precede this meet with a wardrobe party

Mourne Kransky

rubber, rubber, rubber, mmmmmmmmmmmm

come on and surfari with me!

QUINT
09:57 / 13.02.02
You always have to preceed a Torture Garden expedition with a 'getting dressed' party, because it's usually the only way to get into what you're wearing.

I'll bring the silica spray...

Getting near... could someone who's not using a smut-censoring easyInternetCafe computer confirm the date for me? I'm assuming it's the Saturday, yeah?

It's Friday the 29th of March, according to the TG website, although it's yet to be properly confirmed.

No sign of what the theme is yet, dammit. I want to start accessory shopping! How can I shop for unthemed accessories? Rghghghg.

20:08 / 22.02.02
The Friday would suit me pretty well, actually, having swapped so I'm not on-call the following day. Might be tricky for ZoCher, though, who'll likely be travelling down from Edinburgh that day... What time d'you usually head there?

Any time between 11 and 1am, really. However, since we're going to have novices in our midst, perhaps rendezvousing beforehand so that that most people arrive together is a good idea- the TG can be a bit intimidating the first time round. 'Course, if someone's having a dress-up party that's less of a prob.

Ganesh
15:42 / 24.02.02
Okaaayyy...

Two things I need to know:

1) Do we know the theme yet? (I too hate being improperly accessorised...)

2) Are we having a pre-TG dressing up thing and, if so, where? I'd happily volunteer my own place (W9, nearest tube station Westbourne Park on the Hammersmith & City line) but it's basically one teeny-tiny room and can get a little cramped. If no-one's got any other suggestions, though, people are welcome to meet at mine...

Punted to the top again, in the hope of attracting Mordant's steely glare...

The theme: HEAVEN & HELL.

The date: Friday 29th March.

The trousers: got 'em last Friday. Very tight. I like.

The top: couldn't find one I liked, so spooky's going to help me make one.

I'm just going as me, only all black and shiny. Not a 'theme-night' kind of guy...

Well, I've already bumped the thread in the Conversation and there isn't really a lot to add here, but here's the link to the TG's events page.

Stuff on arranging when and where to meet can go on this thread; stuff on what to wear should go in the Conversation thread
(here).

Yes. C'mon, you useless hunks of man/woman/thing flesh... let's see some resolve.

Take it to the fucking bridge. Jump off, if you've a mind. Do something outrageous. And wear something outrageous. And dance a lot.

Parties are good things...

Ganesh
10:04 / 08.03.02
Indeed. And ridicule is nothing to be scared of...

Ooh, I say, what do we have here? Only two weeks to go. I will be whoring my broke ass for pennies to buy outrageous clothing, and you'd better all be doing the same...

Ganesh
15:19 / 11.03.02
Anyone know where you can buy those little devil horn things, and a strong enough glue to stick 'em to one's sweaty skin (but, erm, not for ever)?

[Edited to say 'oops this should've been asked in the Conversation one but I can't be arsed moving it']

Apart from spooky, Lyra and 'Nesh, you're all scum. Oh, wait, La Carnival is probably coming with Latin Lover, so she's not scum. But the rest of you are. Oh yes.

I don't get sufficient online access now to organise this properly... any volunteers to help me out?

ZoCher definitely coming along now...

I think I'll be there as well... given that I can find a replacement top hat by next Friday.

Ganesh
20:37 / 18.03.02
Does it have to be a top hat or will a switch do?

Baz Auckland
05:41 / 19.03.02
What's a switch?

I've been wearing a top hat for about 8 years, so I'm just looking for a replacement. Oddly enough, most hatters here want about £290 for one. <damn>

Moominstoat's coming now too.

All dependent on getting a night off work, of course... hope so, though- haven't been to TG for literally YEARS and my rubber tights are starting to forget what I look like...

In the wicky-wacky world of gay contact ad lingo, a 'top' is the guy who does, a 'bottom' the done-to - and a 'switch' is someone flexible enough to assume either role.

I was commenting on your hat's sexuality.

You can get a top hat in Camden for about 40 quid. Bastards don't make them in my size though.

Thanks a million! All the hat shops I've called want about £100-£295 for one!

Yeah- it's this dinky costumey-type shop up near the lock, where the posh stalls are. Ask around.

I'm thinking of coming to this too, maybe with Screaming pacha in tow. Sartorial challenges are obviously to the fore- but I'll keep that kind of talk for another thread.

I am seriously considering coming...I've lost a bucket of weight since August, and I can sort out an outfit, so I reckon I might come. What's the plan? Are people pre-booking tickets? Are we all meeting up beforehand? etc. etc. etc. Enquiring minds wanna know.

Baz Auckland
04:56 / 23.03.02
I think we should meet beforehand, only if to spare myself a lone tube ride to Brixton.

Being new to the city, someone else come up with a location to meet at!

Pre-booking tickets is probably a good idea, if only because they are a little cheaper that way. You can get tickets from the TG site or from Regulation and a couple of other shops (the website has details.)

*bump and grind*

So who the definites then?

I'm going to have to spend this week in a frenzy of last minute shopping. Ack. Why can't it be on a saturday? Far more convenient...

I can't offhand think of a good place to meet in Brixton. Somewhere reasonably quiet and with available seating I think. Bill?

Am more than a little tempted (and a little nervous), but can't make this Friday. Someone let me know how it goes....
