(3rd) Uncle retro: Sounds like you want uber-goth '80s kitch stylee... I'd gather that the more industrial stuff wouldn't fit your comp?

In which case, 'All Cats Are Grey' from The Cure's Faith is a must, as it's little known. Or 'The Funeral Party'.

If you're after non-goth, but no-less-goth-than-anything-else-marketed-as-such, try Jeff Buckley's 'New Year's Prayer', 'Nightmares By The Sea', or 'Dream Brother' for some goth-non-goth... equally, the already mentioned 'Teardrop' or 'Inertia Creeps' from Massive Attack's uber-goth, stoner-NIN opus Mezzanine would work (recommend the latter, personally, because 3D's voice creeps the fuck out of me). And almost anything from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' Live Seeds album, especially 'The Mercy Seat' for that terrifying authentic 'Sisters' feel.

Then there's Radiohead's 'Climbing Up The Walls', James' 'Someone's Got It In For Me', Counting Crows' 'Perfect Blue Buildings', U2's 'Love Is Blindness', anything from Tricky's wilderness years, Faithless, ...Trail Of Dead, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Portishead... dear dead Christ, how many non-goth-goth bands are there?

Crypto-goth is the new black...

I put out a couple phone calls to my undead homiez over the weekend, and got a few suggestions:

Lillies Dying – Curve (off the Doppelganger LP)

Rise and Forget – Faith and the Muse (off Annwyn, Beneath the Waves. You can also check out Cantus from the same album.)

Salt Water Fish – Ruby, aka the ridiculously talented Leslie Rankine. Anything off her Tiny Meat album will make you quiver deliciously.

Ocean Which Humanity Is – Sky Cries Mary (off Return to the Inner Experience). Another good SCM choice is Elephant Song off the Exit at the Axis EP.

Ok.Thread Jack.

You've been throwing some great songs and I'm now stuck in a bit if a Goth daze.

So while I'm at it how about an industrial compo.
Nothing too abstract/ambient. Let me tap your brains.

Whips out brain hoover.

should I start a new thread?

Oi! Where's the fucking Rosetta Stone, you bastards? "Adrenaline" or "Witch" or... bugger, now I've got to go and listen to On the Side of Angels.

Oh, and Souxie is a must. "Israel", if you don't mind, DJ, and mine's a purple nasty.
