And I need the Huggy Bear albums. Now!

well, try not to get Weaponry Listens To Love. That record isn't very good, and isn't much like that song (Her Jazz) at all.

I've kind of been stuck on the first CD but I really liked the Mount Florida track from if it's so easy... I fell asleep to it. Twice.

That song (actually, it's a three song suite - "Static Airwaves"/"Radio Ocean"/"Out There") is from their first LP 'Arrived Phoenix'. The record is very eclectic...if you want more songs like that, you won't find it there.

I did a google search on Jandek... interesting. Blue Corpse may be my favorite album title ever. I'd like to hear more.

Blue Corpse is certainly one of his best records...unfortunately, he hasn't gotten around to reissuing it yet (he's slowly going through his massive back catalog reissuing albums on cd...), but a big chunk of the album can be found on Audiogalaxy, and some folks on the Jandek mailing list will tape it for you if you ask really nicely. The song I gave you is from his first record 'Ready for the House', back in 1977. Jandek has gone through so many changes...his catalog is very interesting in terms of consistency of content and sudden unexpected changes...

Rizla, Tiger Mouth, Pin: I sent your packages out about a half hour ago.

Rizla: I'm ready for whatever you've got.

Well, that figures. Kill Rock *s says the singles collection is only available on cassette. Weaponry... seems to be available everywhere.

Son of a bitch! This sucks! And last night the Strokes and the Moldy Peaches played a show about 10 blocks from my house but I'd been up for about 25hours and fell asleep two hours before the show. Damnit all to hell!

I did get the new Le Tigre album though.

ah, the NYC show at a pretty large venue (the same venue that a Limp Bizkit or a Smashing Pumpkins or a Radiohead would play, believe it or not) for the Strokes and the Moldy Peaches sold out in a day or two. but I wouldn't have been able to go since it would at the same time that I have a class, and it is Halloween too.

but I have seen both bands this year (Strokes opened up for GBV, Moldy Peaches opened up for Peaches), so I'm good...

I still can't believe they sold out the Hammerstein Ballroom so fast. That's the magical power of hype, man.

I did get the new Le Tigre album though.

oh really. how is it?

Its good.
I posted a longer review in the Le Tigre thread last night but I think the server ate it. At first I didn't really like it. The vocals aren't as loud. Less shouty? Maybe. I just turned up the stereo and that seemed to do the trick. It has some really good songs and as the album went on it started to grow on me. And my daughter dances to it (not that that means anything, she'll dance to anything). Anyway, its not going to lose its spot in the disc player any time soon.

for the ladies/ and the fags, yeah/ we're the band with the rollerskate jams...

If I promise to be really good and play nice, can I get in on this?

And if I promise to actually make a mix CD this Saturday when I'm home, would anyone want one?

Flux and Rothkoid - I love your compilations. Fugazi are amazing: I can't imagine life without them already. Keep up the recommendations, 'Koid - I'll be topping up my Christmas list with some of the stuff off the neoclassical thread.

I've really enjoyed everything people have sent me. Saveloy: many thanks for the Japanese stuff - I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but I'm looking forward. I'll get you some homemade breaks as soon as I'm able.

For everyone I've promised music to: I is coming. I have to get the wedding thank-yous out of the way first (plus work a bit more on my megalomaniacal schemes for forming the only British band worth a shit), so I'll get it done asap. Sorry for being a complete good-for-nothing tardy lazyassed ass.

s'okay...

By the by, I've meant to thank Rosa over and over and over again for the lovely mix-tape with cover and stickers. Not only is it rockin' shit (with Kathy Acker no less... my next one goes out with bits from a rare reading I'm tracking down), but it annoyed some co-workers in three songs or less.

oh - i can't believe rosa's getting props for my kathy acker cd.

after i finish my thesis - in like, two hours, fingers crossed - i'm gonna have plenty of time on my hands, so i promise to send tapes out soon to the people who've sent 'em to me. and, you know, random others. lots of novelty songs, homopunk, rap and diva ballads - who wants one?

Hey now, isn't it what you do with your compadre's borrowed CD's that counts, not who they belong to?

YNH, I'm glad you like the tape. And I can't *think* what might have annoted them, but it annoyed my co-workers, too. Might have been the Bratmobile songs.

Right, I'll be at the 'rents house this weekend, meaning access to the CD burner plus Aimster plus the collective 1,000 songs li'l bro, Dad + I have downloaded so I should be able to rustle up a mix CD. Only crimp in plan may be possible blank CD shortage, but this can be remedied.

Hey Flux, I finished a CD for you on Sunday. Haven't sent it out yet partially due to absentminded professor-ness, and also b/c it was a slightly complicated affair to prepare it, and I have to go through the CD to make sure I know what songs I put on it.

I'm all concerned you'll be bored with it or you'll have the shit I burned- oooh! It's so easy to make mix CDs for those who don't really know what's going on in music but that doesn't appear to be you! Ah, well.

Send me your addy again, wouldja?

oh cool! I'm sure you'll do fine...I've gotten a few tapes from folks here (Kooky being a great example) that contained mostly things I didn't know, so I'm sure you'll be no different... as for the address, I'll send it to in private msg in a moment.

I've got something made up for you (as well as a couple other folks), but I won't be able to send it out til Friday, I'm a bit busy til then...

Kooky is the queen of kick-ass mix tape making. I think I've gotten 3 tapes from her and only one had one song that I'd heard before. Not BAAAD!

See I could do such a BETTER job but I'm missing a crate of my CDs (getting them this weekend though, yay!). Luckily I had like many many mp3s at my disposal, plus the CDs I do have with me. So I could always do another one when I have the rest of my CDs back if this doesn't work out properly.

OK. So that's two(2) Buckleys (one Kooky, one Pinned), two(2) Marillion (one stamped [YNH], one coded Rothkoid), two(2)Pogues (another Rothkoid barcode and a Wembley, if the shipping address is still current)... have I missed anyone?

[YNH], Wembley - if you're still interested, I'll need a snail mail address.

Oh, yeah - Rothkoid, you wanted Cave/Birthday Party - samplers or whole albums? I've got all the Bad Seeds albums, and Hee-Haw, Prayers On Fire, Junkyard and the Mutiny/Bad Seed EP. Choooooose carrrrefullyyyyyyyyy...
