Or sisters for that matter, it just doesn't look as metal.

I'm putting together a metal cd and I want it to be the best thing ever, so susgestions please.

And yes manowar are the first band on it.

Fucking SWEET!!!

Can you put the Donnas' cover of "Strutter" on there? Don't know if it counts as metal.

"You Got Another Thing Coming" by Priest

"Hot For Teacher" by Van Halen, because, as I've said before, I like the riff.

I know my Metals kinda light, but still I salute you, brother!!

"Hot for Teacher" has to be on there. "Poundcake" would do just well.

I'd vote for:

"Revolution Calling" - Queensryche

"Unholy" - Kiss

"I'm Broken" - Pantera

"Midlife Crisis" - Faith No More

"Roots" - Sepultura

"Psycho Love" - Skid Row

"Be Quick Or Be Dead" - Iron Maiden

"Them Bones" - Alice In Chains

"Spoonman" - Soundgarden

I just had a thought, I'll post the final track list so you can all be as metal after a audiogalaxy visit.

Remember, if your not in to metal your no friend of ours!

Manowar rule. We watched a Headbangers Ball documentary on them years ago, straight after "This is Spinal Tap." The Manowar documentary was funnier and more unbelievable.

"Achilles Part VII: Hector Storms the Walls!" - best song title ever!

Almost anything by Manowar, Motorhead, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath.

Yeah baby YEAH!

I definitely second any Maiden or Priest suggetions. Specifically from those two (if you have to only pick one from each) I would suggest 'Number of the Beast' by Maiden and 'Green Manalishi' or 'Hell Bent for Leather' by Priest. I also second 'Revolution Calling' by 'Ryche.

Other suggestions:
'Mr. Crowley' by Ozzy
'The Last in Line' by Dio
The live version of 'Dominance and Submission' off of Extraterrestrial Live by Blue Oyster Cult
'All we Are' by Warlock
'Blind in Texas' by W.A.S.P.
'Only' by Anthrax
'South of Heaven' by Slayer
'The Ballad of Dwight Fry' by Alice Cooper
'N.I.B.' by Black Sabbath (Ozzy era)
'Heaven and Hell' by Sabbath (Dio era)
Something from Savatage and/or Armored Saint would be nice for the real metal diehards and...

for nostalgia...

'Say what you will' by Fastway.

Horns up Dude!

little-known fact: The heavy metal genre was euthanized and laid to rest in 1998 on an album called "Amenaza Al Mundo" by Fantomas, which consisted of Mike Patton, Dave Lombardo, Buzz Osborne and Trevor Dunn. Buy it!

Hey, Lothar (as you’ll probably be the only person on the board impressed by this):

When I was in Canada I met the mix engineer for “Operation: Mindcrime.” They used his TV to create some of the field recordings. He now does a lot of work at a studio in Niagara owned by Alex Lifeson. Needless to say, when I shook his hand I absorbed his power.

MARILYN MANSON - fight song (the best big metal stomping song since grunge!)
IRON MAIDEN - the number of the beast

You now have mighty power! *sigh* Mindcrime was such a good album. A bit dated in its politics now but still a damn fine album.

I agree with every one of your suggestions except Ministry. I dig them but I... I feel... a change... aaahhhh... he's back... the SNOBBY METAL PURIST: "Dude, Ministry ain't Metal, they're fucking industrial man. Next you're gonna be suggesting Nine Inch Nails or Skinny Puppy for the metal album."... ughhh.

I thought he was gone from my system. I thought I was cured. Damn Jeckyll to my Hyde.

Note how Clinton's giving the "I Love You Sign" and W's giving the devil sign?

Coincidence? I think not.

Judas priest painkiller (first preist song I ever heard)

And some days it's dark from the Braincandy OST.

Can we make a separate compilation with “Jesus Built My Hotrod?” It’s beautiful. We can stick White Zombie’s “More Human Than Human” on there as well, with Aphex Twin’s “Come to Daddy,” and then fill up the second side with Atari Teenage Riot’s “Live at Brixton Academy.” Alec Empire vs El-Producto vs The Handsome Boy Modelling School (“Megaton B-Boy 2000” can bring things to a tasty close.

Shit. I’m forgetting the KLF’s “America: What Time is Love?”

If Manowar's the first track one cannot have industrial on there; DEATH TO FALSE METAL!!!

"Bomber" by Motorhead, never go for the obvious track.

"Blitzkrieg Witchcraft" by the Crown, good thrashy Swedish death metal.

"Black Metal" by Venom, it gave the genre of black metal it's name and has that stop where they shout "Lay down your souls to the gods Rock'n'Roll"

"Motorbreath" by Metallica, yeah they suck now, but this song fucking rules.

"Reign in Blood" by Slayer, what do I need to say, they're fucking Slayer.

"Beneath the Remains" by Sepultara, it's quite possibly they're most brutal song.

"No Place For Disgrace" by Flotsam And Jetsam, either this one or "I Live You Die" will work great.

"Speak English Or Die" by S.O.D. this is what happens when metalheads try to play punk, it's still fucking metal.

"She's Dead" by the Accused, almost punky thrash metal, extremely tight and purposely cartoonish, in a good way.

"War Pigs" by Black Sabbath, I mean seriously, it's their best fucking song.

"Beat the Bastards" by the Exploited, when punks play metal, it's still fucking metal.

"Death by Dawn" by Deicide, like you can make a metal comp these days without Deicide.

"Electric Eye" by Judas Priest, this is the fucking song by Priest that should be everywhere.

"Walk" by Pantera, it's one of the best metal anthems out there.

"Cop Killer" by Body Count, when rappers play metal it sounds punk, but still Metal in a way.

I can't believe I forgot Venom, Sepultura, Flotsom & Jetsom, Deicide, and Pantera.

Hopefully Eddie and the Hellion won't come after me for payment.

I don't know if I like metal much (altho I'm willing to learn and, hopefully, join the inner circles of "friends"....), but this thread is fucking hilarious. At school we really gave the metallers shit: they were always the dorks in bleached denim Megadeath jackets. Metal isn't dorky anymore is it? Where can I get my snow washed, zip-up ankle skintights?

I have two goats: One I call 'The Goat of Mendes', the other 'Satan'. Can I join your club? I like 'The Ace Of Spades'!

Oh, fuck it:

Hmmm...I'm liking this thread a lot. And as much as I fucking love Ministry, I agree that they are heavy but not metal.

Cheers for the Fastway ref, Lothar!

How about some UFO? Lights Out, perhaps? And I'd like to get some Scorpions in there for that Continental flava, No One Like You comes to mind but I dig their earlier stuff too...

Local Noo Yawk crew Twisted (Fucking) Sister must be represented. My pick is an earlier tune, You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll.

And...for the ladies...Hell Hath No Fury by Rock Goddess

Ok, you fuckers, here's some metal:

1. Napalm Death- just about any song off of "Scum." The recording is rough, the playing energized, and the vocals are rabid. Classic grind core played by a few young kids who thought punk was too slow.

2. Discordance Axis- The polar opposite in their take on punk grind, they excel in production, have the most technical playing ever, and are actually faster than ND. The Inaleable Dreamless was released last year as their swan song and it's already classic.

3. Nile- Sure they're corny death metal, but it's amazingly played and all about ol' Egyptian magic. I've never heard a more punishing metal band, Manowar would pee their pants to see what the new generation of metal is up to. No matter how old you are this music will still make your parents think something is wrong with you.

4. Entombed- any song from "left hand path,"- once again it's death metal but instead of from the American south they originate from Sweden. I just saw a picture of one of the Mogwai fellers with an "Left Hand Path" Entombed shirt on. They immediately jumped a few points in my book.

5. At the Gates- almost any song from the last two albums. Again they are from Sweden. If you like epic, melodic, angry metal this is for you. I got drunk at a friends house and ended up on the floor listening to this bleeding with a fist in the air.

6. Nasum- Swedish, fast, political, and beautiful.

7. Dillinger Escape Plan- Any song from them is good to go on a metal tape. The most elaborate, and technical metal I've ever heard, it's like they decided they would form a band while doing calculus. I'm sure the people who have heard them know what I'm talking about.

8. Carcass- anything from "reek of putrefaction," it's gory and disturbed, why not?

9. The Luddite Clone- Similar to DEP, these guys are even more intense, as they climb into your spine and start in with the electrodes.

There are many more, but I am tired. Oh, so tired. Good night.

Dude, I don't know what school you went to but 'dorks'? Shit, the metalheads I went to school with were fucking hardcore. If anyone called them dorks they'd beat the shit out of you. Of course I didn't think that anyone who listened to Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, or Motley Crue was a metaller. Poeser was more like it.

Aaah, but Lothar, you're American. The metal situation in England is very different. It's only recently that Metal has regained any of the popularity it enjoyed in the eighties: in the nineties it was overshadowed by the emergence of the rave and indie scenes. During this period, metal went underground, Kerrangs sales plummeted and the fans.... Well, they took a lot of flack. Honestly, all the metalheads at my school had mullets and spoke with lisps.

They were called things like 'Matthew Lambert Gorwin' and got sellotaped to chairs. I remember one telling me all about the different levels of Hell and her favourite way to commit suicide.

Wreckage - Entombed
Roots - Sepultura
Paranoid - Black Sabbath (I know there are better songs but this one's the classic!)

Corrosion of Conformity - Clean my Wounds
Anthrax and Bublic Enemy - Bring the Noise (not a big rap metal fan but this song rules)
Megadeath - Rattlehead

Judas Priest - Blood Red Skys
Dio - Last in Line
Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick or the Immigrant Song
Manowar - Kingdom Come (choosing only one Manowar song is like choosing your favorite child!! The hardest decision of my life!!)
