you can always go back and edit it...

Living Colour are fairly rad; I remember when they won the Hard Rock grammy in 1991 and all the torrie trogs in my class were wondering how they beat out Motley Crüe. Heh.

Dig the intro to "Information Overload".

Oh, what the fuck? I just posted this to the wrong thread. Oh well, fuck it.

Back from Nottingham. FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC. Brilliant..... Tom Hingley, Neds, Terrorvision, NMA and the Wonderstuff.... it was too good to be true... fucking hell.

The Neds looked weird without the hair...but fuck me it was like 10 years ago again... it was an who's got the oldest T-shirt competition... Poppies, Carter, Silverfish... loads of Wonderstuff and NMA tshirts that were faded....

Ah, Living Colour., though. Them was the days. That boy Vernon could rock out. My tape copy of Vivid is at home. It's keeping my copy of Doubt warm, I think...

And Riz: surely you could only have a "STOP CALLING US GRUNGE! WE'RE NOT GRUNGE! THAT'S JUST A RECORD COMPANY LABEL!" revival?

JB again:

"What we really need, though, is a Madchester revival."

No we bloody well do not! Look about you - shapeless jeans so baggy it looks like the wearer is competing in a frigging sack race; those f**king cricket hats (soft flowerpot hats with narrow brims) which, despite ceaseless campaigning on my part people still insist on wearing; armies of over-confident teenagers who think they invented under-age drinking and petty crime, swaggering about the place like constipated gorillas carrying imaginary rolls of carpet under their arms - there's no point reviving it because it never bloody went away.

In the case of baggy, what we need is the opposite of a revival - an unvival? - where the damn thing f**ks off for a bit.

I have a graven idol of Saveloy in the shrine in my room.

Is no one out there wearing their irony trousers?! At least the 'early-nineties-indie-scene' wasn't called something as horrific as 'baggy', or 'Madchester'. Evil! Evil!

And at least half of your were, what, between eight and thirteen when this stuff was really big, so please God don't come across with the world weary 'I was there the first time around, and I can't believe it's coming back' thing. Fakers, the lot of you...

Shameless Plug: May I suggest the Fourplay
String Quartet's The Joy Of which contains covers of PWEI's "Ich Bin Ein AUslander" and the Neddies' "Cut Up". And Supertramp's "Breakfast In America", just to mess with people's heads. (Disclaimer: they're friends, and I've done a remix on their latest album thingy)

They aren't cricket hats; they're RENI hats. And I liked Madchester.*

And yes, I was pretty young at the time, but no-one told me I couldn't listen.

(*Analysis of responses to Madchester as an emblem of the North/South working class/ upper class divide not carried out as it would make me look like a pseud)

Nooo. You said 'Madchester' with no trace of irony.

<shudder>
