As I'm going to see the Wonderstuff and Neds Atomic Dustbin this weekend I thought I'd try and find out what's happened to some of my old favorites of early 1990's...

Jeusus Jones - reformed new Album out 8th of October...!!!

EMF just did a reunion tour!!! (LK was a fantastic band, and Carrie were great live and were pretty alright, if a bit kooky.)

Lush - split up..... (sigh).

Curve - Still going....

Carter USM - well they seem to be touring in September but not as Carter. Bizarre they're saying it's not a reunion, but will be playing some old Carter classics
Fruitbat

.. and before you ask do I have anything better to do at work... erm no not really.

Aren't Carter now 'Jimbobs' Super Circus Sideshow' or something? Last I heard there were about 6 of the bastards, made up of rejects from other indie never-rans (Remember S*M*A*S*H?) and collapsed in a sea of indifference. I bought their fifth album (Worry Bomb) and it was crap. The B-Sides album was and is great though.
"You fat bastard!"

Just hold on a minute there you young scamp. neds atomic dustbin, one more outburst like that and you won't be allowed out for a week.
The only logical conclusion to this madness is for you to fall into shit swamp of your own making. Next thing we know Dead or Alive will be post-ironic goth metal, and mega city four will be number one in the charts. lay off the lighter fuel son.

Keep hearing Dead or Alive these days -they were on Top of the Pops 2.....

Nah, Mega City Four split years ago Wiz is in a band called Serpico... they're playing tiny venues in London at the moment. Must buy Magic Bullets again as my copy's still in Sunderland....

I wonder what happened to the Darling Buds...

See? See?! Next time someone whinges about how rubbish music is now and how it was all so much better back in the good old days I will point them to this thread, shaking my head slowly and sadly and saying, in a policeman's voice "when will they EVER learn?"

I note that New Model Army are playing as well.

<does weird criss-crossing thing with arms>

We follow the tail-lights out of the city
Moving in a river of red
And as the colour fades away from the dusky sunset
We roll through the darkness ahead

<a-a-a-a-a-a-and the obligatory fiddle>

Oh, and no-one's mentioned Pop Will Eat Itself yet? For shame.

Terrorvision will also be playing... they're a band who are about to split... I think every other band ('cept New Model Army) have called it a day once or twice in the past... oh Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets) is also playing...

Just found out that Headswim have split (pants)... ho hum.

My point is they were all very safe and very dull. And i wish: Kyuss were still together and Monster Magnet hadn't turned into a humour free 'metal' combo and the Wellwater Conspiracy would do gigs i could get to and Iggy Pop was King of England and and and... help me.

Well you have mentioned another part of my record collection there, although I've never heard any Wellwater Conspiracy... I'm quite happy to play Royal Trux, Babes in Toyland and Jesus Jones after listening to the Kinks and then bounding along to Soundagarden, maybe put on a Hefner song, then plod back and put Haysi Fantayzee on...before putting on a Pixies record, if I'm in the mood I might even try and find the Eat Static tape I've not been able to find for ages (I've lost a bag of tapes in the process of moving - some being irreplaceable - bum!).

I have an ecclectic taste in music, some people scorn my tastes (Uncle Retrospective) some people stare incredously and tell me to stop playing Jazz records to a room full of Goths... myself I don't think they're dull bands. Safe... they got commercial... it happens, I'm not always pleased about it - but it happens.

Yeah, once Ned's started getting in the Top 5 with those polished bubblegum pop songs I think they lost their integrity.

Somebody, anybody, please kill this early 90's revival before These Animal Men and Senseless Things reform.

E Randy: One of the Senseless Things (I think it was the drummer) formed another band, Delakota, a while ago. They were actually quite good, especially their single, The Rock.

It is quite worrying, all this revival stuff. Mainly cos it makes me, at 24, feel old.

Ah well, at least Daisy Chainsaw haven't reformed under a different name...

What we really need, though, is a Madchester revival.

'Ian Brown is Innocent' t-shirts, massive flares, the 'Cool as Fuck' T-shirts, the Hacienda, Kinky Afro, Northside's Shall we take a Trip?, shaking imaginary maracas, hooded tops and warehouse rave busts in Lancashire....

You're twisting my melons, man

The boy has a point, back off neds. And I won't hear popies slagging either.

Is everybody happy?

I hate to tell you folks but the 90's revial is well under way, haven't you seen the vid for Nelly frata, whatever. They're all wearing dayglow yelllow and green. I though we had decided at that meeting that those colours were a bad thing

I wouldn't be all that fussed about an early 90's revival if it focussed on Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Screamadelica, the mad version of Mercury Rev...

But fraggle?

I mean... fucking fraggle?

If all these fucking ropey chancers are having a 'revival', I hereby take to the stage and chant:
