No. All this stuff comes from AICN. Whedon assures us that some of it's true, and some of it isn't.

Because he's shitting it now that everything's been leaked.

Possibly.

And, yeah, we heard the same Spike and Buffy rumour.

Just finished watching Season 5.

In a sad, fanboy kinda way, I'm a bit pissed off that we see Drusilla turning Spike into a vampire.

Season 2, 'School Hard', on discovering that Angel has regained his soul, Spike clearly says "You were my sire, man."

Whoops.

<fanboy mode off>

Despite that minor fuck up, an excellent season. I now retreat from Buffy threads until the Season 6 vids come out. Anyone who gives plot details away elsewhere without adequate spoilers shall face my wrath.

I have a big wrath. Look - - see? Ignore my angry face at your peril.

Joss Whedon has explained the gaff by saying that vampires sometimes just use "sire" to mean anyone above them in the vamp family tree.

But yeah, that's obviously just covering for the fact that they changed their minds...

Watched all of season 5 yesterday.

"The Body" is fucking excellent. I've rarely seen death dealt with so well by popular entertainment. It didn't diminish or glamourize the subject at all.

Fuck "adult" televion and fuck "high art". Buffy's more sophisticated, it's characters more emotionally complex and, contrary to Cameron Stewart's emissions, its script is tighter than a million BBC Dramas.

True. Just watched 'The Body' and the first half of the one after... argh. Pain. But y'know, those kids can act.

S P O I L E R S

I warned ya...

I hadn't heard about Willow going eeeevvviiil, but it does look likely. What I heard is that Season 6 will open with the Buffy Robot taking up the Slayer's slack. Willow will sort out the resecurrection spell to get the real deal back. I think the suggestions that Willow will go to the dark side are likely. After all last season several people did make Marge Simpson-like worried noises about where she was heading.

I also remember as well that in Season 4 she was given a token by those Demons who turned Anya into a Vengence Demon. I always felt that it was a plot device waiting to be exploited. When she's pissed off Willow always reaches for the spell-book. She nearly fried Oz's werewolf lover but stopped herself. When Tara got injured she didn't hestitate but went over and whupped Glory's ass.

Oh, and yes, I did hear that rumour that Spike and Buffy will get it on eventually. I was just re-watching the episode where they were engaged and it certainly boded well for the future (it's also very funny).

And then there's the "musical" episode to look forward to...

If only Sky would show season 6 a bit earlier than next year!

One thing I'm wondering - why do we see Dawn steal Anya's earrings in Intervention? It can't just be a device to show Glory's minions looking through the window, as that could easily be achieved just by leaving Dawn sat down. Yet no mention of it is made in the following episodes.

Thought I'd better move this post, as it's possibly a bit too spoilertastic for the Dawn thread.

it was established that humans were good and needed protecting, vampires were bad and needed slaying. The later series have shown that it isn't quite that simple - even that these roles must sometimes be reversed (see: the Knights of Byzantium).

That's what I thought was most interesting about the major plotline in this season - that Buffy is given the task of protecting something that, while not evil itself, is created for a purely evil purpose. It's not just Spike's role that's reversed - the Knights of Byzantium are Buffy's enemies, and yet on one level they're also the good guys.

Yeah, Wyrd, all those spoilers are on "Aint It Cool News", along with the Bad Willow one. They all originate from the same source. I think.

The resurrection spell is pretty much a definite now. New trailer at www.upn.com .

That's it. Really. I'm out of this thread.

Honestly.

Yep, good point. I felt that it was supposed to be a sign of Dawn "acting up", because of her various "problems". I doubt it will be mentioned in the next season...

I won't be reading any more of the spoiler threads once Buffy starts in the USA. I don't mind some rumours, but I hate to know exact details before I see the actual episodes.

Finished watching Buffy series 5 today, bit better than the bizarre 'Angel does Xena/Hercules' I loved the 'Previously on Buffy sequence, the only time that has been used intelligently, with clips from every single episode. The first episode of season 6 will be a disappointment if only because 'The Gift' would be the perfect ending to the show, forever. My favourite bits were Giles standing up to Buffy in mid-rant and the clever use of plot elements from the series (Dagon Sphere, the troll hammer, did anyone expect to see that used again?) Definitely an improvement on series 4. Thing is, I'm sure I heard somewhere that the template the monks used to create Dawn was the daughter of Buffy and Riley from an alternate future. Did anyone else here this or was it just disinformation put out to obscure her real origins? (She does say "no-one knows who I am" in episode 2 mind) And the development of Spike to a more-or-less good guy was very well handled.

I'd quite like it if SMG didn't come back right away either, sort of go for a Blakes 7 thing. If Buffy were to be bad that would of course allow Spike to go "Buffy, you betrayed us... you betrayed me?"

But that's just teenage gaff used to whet curiosity - a red herring. She doesn't know who she is until Buffy tells her. And I'm not about to buy any "maybe she knew all along and was just play acting all that suicidal desperation and fear" tosh.

SPOILING IT FOR NOSEY RUNTS

There are soooo many wicked sequences in 'The Gift':

But don't you just love Giles' ruthlessness, and Buffy caning Glory with that hammer? Yes, indeed!

The series best sequences, however (it's hard there's so many of them):

-That fantastic fight where Buffy pulls of some wicked air shit on Glory and Willow and Tara handclap her into the atmosphere.

-Willow as hardcore, God-fucking bitch.

"Bag of Knives!"

Oh yes.

Didn't our beloved Tom predict Willow turning way back when the last season ended, or am I thinking of someone else?

(nudge...)

Ignoring all of the stuff above but I am hijacking the thread because the thread title is v. vague in its intentions.

I just finished season two on DVD. Other than bits and pieces of season four, I've not watched any Buffy outside of the first two seasons. I had my doubts, buying the sets sight unseen as I did. Everyone I know gave "ick" looks at the very idea of watching Buffy. After watching the first two seasons, though, my roommate and I are now avowed Buffy-buffs. I was shocked at how much I cared about the characters and how moved I was by their plight in the last episode. Shocked, I tell you.

Are there others here in my unfortunate position? Seasons behind everyone else? This is truly an unfortunate position. I would like to share this feeling of just having watched the end of season two because it is powerful.

I don't know if I can wait until January for season three...

I will build a time machine!
