(Also, the place you've got to, where you recognise the giant MEH as self rather than other? It may not seem like it right now, but that's actually a crucial step in starting to get a bit better. Um. That probably makes little sense. But anyway I hope things improve for you.)

It's a bit of a shame that the spambots are eating this place alive.

I feel like the Omega Man. Only without the casual racism and gun fetish.

My goodness. If only I'd been clever enough to visit here on 12.21.12. The gang was all here. How lovely. I'm glad that the board is still around, that even though I didn't remember that I should have been here, that I can read this thread of reunion and be happy with the memories of so many years ago.

Inspired this thread, I decided to actually go back and read some of my favorite threads. Good grief, it's every bit as good as the first time round. I'd somehow forgotten just how much happened here. And how much I admire and love you all.

Crusty old-timer here. Profile number 26 (just three off the magic number).

I expect I'm too late to the thread to be noticed, but I found myself thinking about the 'lith last night, for the first time in many years. I'm really pleased to see so many people doing well. Most of you won't know or remember me, as I was more active when going under the fiction-suit Herne, in the board's previous '98-'01 incarnation. I could never really get up the enthusiasm after the relaunch - depression dulled, and age mellowed my outlook. But those initial years, when The Bomb was dissecting The Invisibles, were amazing. The Nexus was one of my first experiences of online interaction. In some ways, it's all been downhill from there. Nothing could live up to it.

Barbelith was a friend to me just as I was being pushed into the big wide world after university. I didn't know who I was, I didn't know the city I was living in, but I knew you guys and will always treasure the late night rambling chats we had, each and every response punctuated by my modem dialling up. Yes, this was before broadband. Before mobiles!

Thanks, Tom, and everyone else, for making this one of the finest communities the web has seen. These days you can find me on Twitter as @ljthomson or ADN as just @thomson
