You know, I actually thought that Doctor Who special was kinda weak, which is a first. Not much hapenning or that has not hapenned in several episodes.

Except for the last 15 minutes, when the Doctor finally realizes there's no one left to police his action anymore and he can do whatever he wants with the "laws of time", and christens himself the "Lord of Time". A very Master-like detour to the Dark Side that shall hopefully make the final Doc10 Christmass special quite interesting.

Wonder what people on earth made about

SPOILERS

someone traveling a very long distance in less than a day without any means of transportation.

/SPOILERS

That was one huge plot hole.

Not really. SPOILER

After arriving on Earth, the survivors would probably be debriefed by the authorities. The moment they told them about a weird guy in a suit calling himself "the Doctor" and traveling in a blue box that is bigger on the inside, U.N.I.T. would have been called and they would provide them with a cover story and orders to stick to it. After all, the existence of the Doctor, albeit probably a classified information, is known by Earth authorities.

But they were showing an internet news site. What were people supposed to think about that?

Oh, and the kids weren't native german speakers. That is a pet peeve of mine.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
13:11 / 20.11.09
What kids? Did I miss something in WoM?

ONLY NICE THINGS
17:31 / 20.11.09
The children the German member of the team was watching on video as she got beasted, old stick - her children.

Hehe, nice one Kali!

And anyone else getting tired of the inevitable scene of astronauts watching videos of their loved ones? When that started in the recent movie 'Moon', I was disappointed, since the movie is otherwise so fresh for a scifi film. I am surprised there were no chains dangling from the ceilings on Mars.

Dead Megatron
19:29 / 21.11.09
Well, considering that watching their loved ones in videotaped messages is something astronauts in future longe range space missions will very much probably actually do, it's kinda of hard avoind that cliché, specially given the time restraints to character background in 60min made-for-TV specials.

Also, I don't recall the news about the two surviving astronauts having a precise publishing date, so I imagine they could have been kept in isolation for a couple of months, while a cover story about a "survival pod"-ish device that brought them close enough to Earth to be rescued. Anyway, in a show like Doctor Who, one is always safe to assume the government knows all kinds of interesting ways to cover a story that they don't want out.

Finally, regarding Dollhouse, yeah, that was a bummer...

Keith, like a scientist

I'm somewhat perplexed by how fascinating I find Flashforward. It's not exactly fantastic and veers into some fairly sappy territory, but I really look forward to watching it each week.

So I'm watching that, and:

Fringe - Which hasn't quite risen to the high point of the last few episodes of last season. I think the storyline with David Robert Jones and ZFT was perhaps the best most focused avenues it went down. They seem to be falling into the X-File/Alias trap of bringing up a lot of mysteries and not coming back to them. The manifesto?

30 Rock - Because I love Tina Fey

The Office - Probably the worst season so far, unfortunately.

Bored to Death - If you are into Wes Anderson, this is probably the closest to a WA series you'll ever get. Ted Danson and Zach Galifanakis are unreal.

Curb Your Enthusiasm - These are best watched at a run off the DVR. You've gotta be in the right mood to tackle David's mindwarp.

V - Hmm. Yes, well, hmm. I want to like it, but I'm having trouble forming an opinion.

In reality, all of these shows are just buying time til February and LOST.

Eek! A Freek!
14:44 / 27.11.09
I just discovered "Ink:Alter Egos exposed" and "The Vice Guide to Film" on IFC...
Both amazing if you have access...
Ink is a 1/2 hour doc about Comic book themes hosted by Hugh Dillon, and Vice is just Vice. Awesome.

Spaniel

V? It's a little thing, but surely only in an American TV show would you have a list of problems facing our world that *didn't* include climate change.

Gets on my tits

Dead Megatron
09:47 / 04.12.09
Also, the offer of "universal health care" that turns out to be an evil plot to take over America (and by extension, the world). Soooooo right-wing conspirationism...

My favourite show right now is It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Danny DeVito and Charlie (the gruesome twosome) are so great! Kitten Mittons, Milk Steak, did you fuck my mum Santa?, Greenman, Trashman, botched toes bandaged with trash, this show has got it all.

Tsuga
20:27 / 04.12.09
Day man
Fighter of the Night man
Champion of the sun
You’re a master of karate and friendship…for everyone

I like Rickety Crickets.

Dead Megatron
07:57 / 05.12.09
"Stargate: Universe" gets better and better at every episode. I hate to have to wait until 2010 to see where all the cliffhangers they left in yesterday's episode to be solved...

oh, well, I have several "Dexter" and "Sons of Anarchy" episodes in my HD to keep me distracted till then

Dead Megatron

Also, can you say "episode" one more time?

I discovered "Sons of Anarchy" this week and saw the first two episodes (hehe). Like it alot! Ron Perlman is his lovable self, even if he fires his M4 and his wife reminds me of one of my scheming aunts.

One of the best new series around!

Eek! A Freek!

I forgot to mention: 2 weeks ago I saw Cameron Stewart on "Ink"...
Cool show!
