My short list of shows I am glad to see with new eps:

Supernatural

Fringe

Dollhouse

and maybe Flash Forward.....?

Eek! A Freek!
11:36 / 23.09.09
I am so Pissed that "Chuck" only starts in March...

I am anxious for "SG-U"... A Stargate with Begbie!

Other than that, there's a show called "Dragon's Den" that I love, as well as new seasons of "My Name is Earl", "30 Rock" and "The Office"

Chuck is on my backlog of TVs I've got to get around to watching.

Dead Megatron
14:14 / 24.09.09
All of the above, plus I'm curious about "Day One"

Day One....damn, have to reGoogle it to remember what it is.

Dead Megatron
02:55 / 25.09.09
It's one of these pre-cancelled series (like "Kings", which I really liked for its shakespearan tone), so it might appear at an unexpected time, in a weird time-slot, in that "you blink, you lose it" style. I expect some 12 or 13 interesting episodes, ending in an annoying cliffhanger. You know, just like Kings, except it's likely with an alien invasion and some time-traveling...

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
11:10 / 25.09.09
Well, my intel says that so far it's planned as an extended miniseries, series status pending on performance. I like the idea, though, but obviously time will tell if it's handled correctly.

You're curious about everything, DM, surely?

Dead Megatron

t's planned as an extended miniseries

Yeah, "extended miniseries"... Down here in Brazil we call those "soap operas"

You're curious about everything, DM, surely?

Hell yeah! Here's an abridged list of what I'm curious about:

Day One

Supernatural series finale

Smallville (seriously. I'm a sucker for modern mithologies, and Superman is soooooo Apolo reimagined)

Big Bang Theory (will the nerd get - and keep - the pretty girl?)

Survivor (how long will the crazy oil company owner last?)

Stargate Universe, obviously

The next Star Trek movie (how would the rebooted female star trek uniform look in the mirror universe?)

Futurama, perhaps?

Family Guy vs Simpsons... The showdown!

I might be the last one, but I still dig Heroes

Legend of the Seeker (old-fashioned fantasy still does it for me. Tho, I'd love to see how would the Battlestar Gallactica gritty realism approach work in the sword and sorcery genre)

DOCTOR WHO, GOD DAMN IT!!!!!!!!

The upcoming Hobbit movie

District 9 (only goes on theather here in late Oct)

What will be the next videogame-bases movie that blows...

The outcome of the Honduras standoff (watch some news, people!)

Haus' actual appearance in meatspace

Future Kali-Matt babies????

What is my ex-girlfriend doing right now (I still have hopes to get her back from her current bf, that douchebag)

Barbelith's final fate

Glenn Beck's sex life. (slasher porn!)

The rest of the list gets a bit nasty...

Lad, men like you and I are permitted to indulge our darkest curiosities, are we not? In recompense for the great work we do to keep society safe.

18:41 / 25.09.09
Incidentally, lad, if you would like me to intercede on your behalf with the young lady, and dissuade her from further dalliance with her current beau, then I would be delighted to do so.

I have a record of happy outcomes as a result of such interventions.

Anyone not watching Glee (from Nip/Tuck's Ryan Murphy) is seriously missing out.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
10:55 / 26.09.09
I watched the first ep of Glee and was blown away by the fun of it. I am thinking of trying to get MattS to download the rest of the current eps because I think he might dig it.

Tonight's the 2nd ep of Fringe and the first of FlashForward.

Tomorrow we catch up on Dollhouse.

Off-topic obviously, but District 9's great.

Telly-wise, I'm looking forward to series 4 of the American Office, whenever that comes out, the rest of Professional Masterchef, and Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen. Again, US version. I hoping this season Gordon will go too far, in terms of repeatedly calling one of the contestants 'a fat fuck', 'a disgusting pig', or whatever, and be sued. Will he call someone 'a c*nt' this series? At this stage, it can't be ruled out. He's a bad guy in his other shows, but even in that context, Ramsay's behaviour in this is a total disgrace, so much so that the prospect of him having to cook in Hell's real kitchen, for the rest of eternity, as a direct result of his antics seems a distinct possibility.

Dead Megatron
17:37 / 27.09.09
I can tell you now that Smallville's season primiere, on itself, was sooo meh!. The only good thing about was the promise of huge krytoninian on kryptoninan action thanks to 'Major' Zod clone army (seriously), but then again Smallville has been consistently disappointing regarding showdowns they spend the whole sason building up to, so the jury's still out on that...

Supernatural is still great, tho, since its the show's final year and they are all about the big showdown against good and bad angels, I miss the stand alone episodes and the monster of the week system. It's all demons and the Apocalypse now. On the other hand, the Quest for God they are preparing seems like it could be fun.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
20:06 / 27.09.09
We're only three into the Supernatural season so hopefully there will be plenty of time to do fun standalone episodes!

Don't be so sure about this "last season" business. They're making good money and I've read a sixth season hasn't been completely ruled out yet.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
22:03 / 30.09.09
Honestly? I heard about that but I am hoping the Kripkeeper won't do it. I think shows should have a defined run. More shows should go out on a high note.

Evil Scientist
08:22 / 01.10.09
More shows should go out on a high note.

"I'm slaying the dragon."

Oh yes.

Having only just gotten into Life and approaching the end of the second season I find out it's been cancelled. So I'm hoping I get something I can fan-twist into closure with that'n.

I haven't been too impressed with recent offerings from Sci-fi (beyond Dollhouse which does indeed rock). Knight Rider was the worst kind of dross (alright, I shouldn't have been too surprised but still), and Legend of the Seeker seemed like Xena/Hercules with all of the humour removed.

Heroes I'm rather "meh" about these days.

Stargate Universe looks like a Galactica-ised version of SG1, might be interesting, also might be SG: Voyager.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
10:48 / 01.10.09
Oh, I gave up on Heroes a loooong time ago. It was a show that floundered under its own premise. I am quite surprised it's still running actually.

The first episode of FlashForward shows potential---MattS didn't care for it---so I am hoping that the second one will start to solidify the premise instead of doing very overly expositioned (that is not a word, is it?) character introductions.

That's a big fear of mine, but my hopes lie with R. Carlyle...

Him, and the fact that as hokey as it began, the SG franchise has always been a lot less sanitized than the Star Trek offerings.

Dead Megatron
13:25 / 02.10.09
Regarding FlashForward: I swear this show has nothing to do with LOST

And regarding Day One: Now further downgraded to four-hour miniseries

The problem with Heroes, IMHO, is that the show creators envisioned it as a show about people finding out they have powers and deciding what to do with them, not about people who have powers and do something with them. They never had a real plan for a Season 2 and forward, no character development plans or story arch past that point, no end-game whatsoever. The producers even said they intended to use a rotating cast (before the show was a major hit in its first season and they decided the characters/actor should remain to capitalize on that), which at the time seemed to be an interesting idea, but now has become clear it was just a gimmick for them to re-do Season 1 over and over instead of actually moving forward, which reveals the lazy writing behind that very interesting initial concept...

It is still kinda fun for me, but it's never going to be brilliant again, that much is clear. I doubt it will survive Season 4

Dead Megatron
22:53 / 03.10.09
Just saw Stargate: Universe premiere and I think they started very well indeed. They amped up the seriousness just enough to cut the goofiness and the camp of the previous Stargate series. Good performances all around, everyone is playing their characters as realistic as any series taking placing in a alien ship can get without relying as heavily on grittiness as Gallactica did. Everyone's motivations seem grounded and believable, and even the mad scientist is being played in a way that, at least so far, is not too mad as to be unlikely (or unlikable?). Plus, the look of the half-wrecked ship who kind has a mind of its own got me from the start, as if we were seeing the first act of a ghost story. And they did it all without ever leaving the ship or meeting any alien threat (except for one battle in the beggining, with lots of cameos, as homage to Stargate: SG1. An, my God is Dead Anderson fat!). Looks promising...

If they stay true to the book on which FlashForward is based, by Robert J. Sawyer, then I have little need to watch it anymore.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
12:26 / 04.10.09
They tampered significantly with the concept, MrKismet. Never read the books but from what I've read, they haven't keep very much.

Solitaire Rose as Tom Servo
04:58 / 06.10.09
Flash Forward has been interesting, so I'm staying with it. Dollhouse still feels like a movie idea that is being stretched out to a series, and will probably be dead before I finish writing this post. Community and Parks and Recreation continue to try to be The Office and have failed, so they are banished from the Tivo.

The rest...well, I miss Better Off Ted and await it's return before it too is canceled.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
10:58 / 06.10.09
Yeah, I too am sticking with FlashForward. As for Dollhouse, it alternates between really good episodes and episodes where I go, "What the fuck were they thinking?" I, sadly, do not predict it will leave on to another season, much less the current one.

Dead Megatron
11:38 / 21.10.09
You know, even despite all criticisms and flaws (some of which I pointed out myself) I still don't get why people malign Heroes so much. This week episode was pretty awesome in my opinion. That deaf/synesthesic/sonic lady is really growing on me. The mirror-flashback Sylar scene was pretty intense. And Noah is finally doing something usefull with his skills...

Still, hopes of a pick-up remain dim

Bye, DOLLHOUSE.

Whedon: Stop selling your stuff to Fox!!!

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
10:56 / 26.10.09
Yeah, pulling it for November sweeps doesn't exactly show that Fox stands behind it nor believes in it.

Eek! A Freek!
02:19 / 07.11.09
Each new episode I am more and more impressed with SG-U.
Seriously.

15:37 / 08.11.09
The baffling thing for me is why Fox would renew Dollhouse in the first place. It's logical not to believe in it when it gets such terrible ratings, but not airing the show in any consistent way indicates you're basically giving up on the show ever getting good ratings. If I was running the network, I'd make that call too, but it's weird to air the show as kind of a lame duck thing, I guess they just assume Whedon's base will watch it and buy the DVD when it comes out, so the broadcast is only a loss leader.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
10:04 / 09.11.09
It's also damning when you pull it for November sweeps, never mind when it returns in December you'll be airing three weeks of double episodes.
