Tom! I salute you.

Tsuga - maybe making a brief list of turn-offs and turn-ons would help. Like five-minute dating, only with moderator powers for user accounts.

God, did I say something stupid?
Maybe I'm forgetting something. Since no functionality is changing, the biggest problem besides people leaving in droves and lack of banning is a deficiency in moderators, right? Isn't that one thing he could possibly do easily? I know there may be slim pickins, but am I wrong in thinking that's about the only thing besides admissions that there is to work with?

Also,

Turn ons: walks on the beach, puppies, candlelit dinners
Turn offs: bad vibes, frowns, major surgery without anaesthesia.

Oh, don't mind me. It's just... this doesn't really fix things, except possibly in the short term a dearth of moderators. Still.

How has the admissions process been working? Does stuff get processed and require activation by Tom?

It's just that I've discovered, long forgotten in an old e-mail, that I have a link to Barbelith's back door. How does this work? Do things that go through there get automatically accepted, or do they require further verification by Tom?

I can't be the only one with that, can I? Though the process of my admission might have been unique.

Oh! I didn't see that Tom had recently checked in. Scratch that then.

Haus, certainly that's right that it doesn't do much. Not much hope in Tom's post, is there. It doesn't do much to make the place more amenable to improvement, or even a return to form. It may take some of the burden off of you who feel compelled to stay and ward off total meltdown. And, if there are any admissions, well... it may be that much more necessary.

Tsuga: You're turned on by puppies? That's... disturbing.
