Nice. I liked the stuff you linked to awhile back.

Thanks, it's the same stuff. The belt won first in Carved Belts, the knife sheath won second in Knife Sheaths and Holsters, and the checkbook cover won third in the Beginner Class. I was so surprised; they didn't win a thing the last show they went to (though I got a lot of nice comments).

Other than that, life's been up and down.

I'm totally jealous about the party-stuff, by the way. My social life is all but nonexistent right now.

Cool. I was just about to ask if you had links to the stuff that won.

Other than that, life's been up and down.

More up than down, I hope.

And, as far as social lifes go, mine's been fairly missing for a bit now, so it was really good to be forced to go out and enjoy myself.

Cherished adolescent writer's cat--I say "cat", but really not seven month kitten--died this past Friday. Scroll down five entries. She may have her flaws, but no one deserves the animal pain she has lived.

She may have her flaws...

For a moment, I read that wrong, and I thought we might have to have a fight. (Cats don't have flaws.) But, no, it's a horrible thing to go through. And the kind of pain that I think demonstrates that, fundamentally, suffering does not make us better, does not advance us. Some things need not be.

I lost large chunks of my rational human intellect for days when my dog died last year and I'm watching a friend lose her pet to cancer now. I've fairly good with human deaths. I do funerals well and so on. But I fall apart over animals.

It's because they are so utterly dependent on us for survival, we can't help but feel responsible when they die.

When Snuggles died, I was overcome with guilt. I sometimes feel like I should have done more to make her last days more enjoyable: I should have played with her more, I should have given her more treats, etc.

The thing is, I didn't know they were her last days. I just took it for granted that she would always be here.

I had to go look at the Dogs for... and Cats for... threads. I'm so glad we have those threads.

If barbelith finally collapses some day I want notice so I can go copy all the pics at the last minute.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
22:52 / 29.04.08
Is there anybody out there?

Yes. I am. You're not alone.

You're never alone.

Well, except when nobody's 'round.

I'm at work for another eight minutes and then it's off to write up in a coffee shop with a friend of mine. But I'm here for the moment and I'll be back later...

I will try hard to think of something to share when you return post coffeness...

There are fossils to be read about, but they're currently in the other room. I'm hiding in here with chocolate and video games to avoid doing anything productive.

Now chocolate and video games sounds just heavenly right now. I am coping with sobering up with water, cigarettes and Slay - with the occasional Nightshift interlude to keep me sane.

I know I should give up and admit to sleep but that would result in work coming around far too quickly. Any advice on enjoying the fine evening time, while not feeling shit on the morrow or bunking off work?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
01:33 / 30.04.08
I'm back, and in a decently no-misanthropic mood for once.

Saint Keggers
02:08 / 30.04.08
hello.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:20 / 30.04.08
How the hell does my landlord manage to suck so much time out of my life? I think I just lost an hour to him babbling at me. He's a very nice man but when you haven't had more than five minutes to yourself in a week, it's almost unbearable.

Saint Keggers
02:22 / 30.04.08
cant you leave a trail of rent money for him to follow back to his place?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:56 / 30.04.08
Nah, I just have to let him putter on. But he's gone now, and I feel more sane.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Hey, Keggers.

This Sunday
02:26 / 04.05.08
So I'm busy waiting for the temperature to lower so I can get groceries without them cooking while I walk home.

Anybody 'round?

Saint Keggers
02:32 / 04.05.08
Im 'round. (Im also 'quare)

Hey Stoats.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

I'm all busy at work and stuff. Which is weird. How's everyone else?

Saint Keggers
02:41 / 04.05.08
Pretty much crap.

This Sunday
02:43 / 04.05.08
Hey, Keggers. Hiya, Stoat.

So, I just got a call to tell me I should totally go down to the high school dance. I'm like, what, ten plus years too old to be getting that call? But they offered to play some Prince for me. It's so cute it could make my teeth hurt.

And instead, I'm going to go buy carrots and whisky tonight. Go figure.

This Sunday
02:45 / 04.05.08
What do you do, Stoatie? If you don't mind answering.

I know you work late, but in my head you just kinda hang out, party, and play with your dog all the time. (Aren't you glad I have an imaginary Stoatie-sim life worked out for you?)

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Hey, I like that life. Nah, I read newspapers for a living, seven nights on, seven nights off. So I get a week off every fortnight, essentially. So you're half-right.

This Sunday
03:52 / 04.05.08
Back from the store now.

Sounds like a fair life, Stoatie.

Damn, Stoatie, how do I get a gig like that?

This Sunday
03:12 / 05.05.08
I am officially retired for the night from anything except maybe this and a movie. And more dinner in a bit.

Who's up?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:21 / 05.05.08
I am. Watching bad movies and debating about writing weird fiction and thinking about Batman. Also: annoyed at my own brain.

This Sunday
03:55 / 05.05.08
What's your brain doing to you, now?

I had to forgive mine, earlier today; I was blaming it for lots of stuff, but I realized it's other brains that are fucking mine up. Mine was actually innnocent, it was just confused and easily manipulated.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
04:38 / 05.05.08
Oh, went shopping with people today and consequently succumbed to body angst, followed by the realization I couldn't have an uninterrupted afternoon at home because my landlord is showing off the house to potential investors/buyers. I got very grumpy very quickly.

But, because it was a really beautiful day out, I trucked across town to the ocean and stared at it for a while, then walked home. Came with some short fragment stories on the way. I needed a bit of time to center my head, really, and the walk helped a lot.

Also debating options for a tattoo. I was going to go for the alchemical symbol for Mercury, what with the language ties, but there's also some other connotations that would make it inappropriate for me, so now I'm thinking about the symbol for Pluto...

(which is all very pretentious and foolhardy of me, I suppose)
