Yeah, the Titus series is certainly a flawed masterpiece. Apart from the general looniness of Titus Alone, there are timeline and continuity flubs in the first two, and there's some general imbalance between set ups and pay offs. But that said, it's just so singular that I tend to overlook the "flaws" or to treat them as idiosyncrasies adding to the overall charm. Apologist of me, I know.

Likewise, Dusto. This may signal the first time AG + I have disagreed over a sacred text on here. Alack.

Am currently zipping through Jim Crace's 'Being Dead'.

Feck, that's a wonderful book. So lyrical and yet so studied and frank. Yum.

The collected Elric books. Can't believe I've taken so long to get around to them, actually. Quite enjoying them too.

"Murphy" by Samuel Beckett.

I forgot how much I enjoyed Beckett's cynical, curmudgeonliness.

Is it just me or do most of his protagonists sound like elderly gentlemen displeased with their chronic incontinence?

Benny the Ball

Been reading some Raymond Chandler, still going on the Bond books, and have picked up a copy of The Once and Future King (as a book I think I'd like to read little Benny the Ball when he grows up a little bit)

Got the works of Chandler, Thames a Biography and The Short Life of Oscar Wao for christmas, so will start making my way through those shortly. Oh, and have a copy of Fletch on the bedside table ready to go.
