By way of an apology for recent, disruptive behaviour, might I suggest a look at the 'Spider-Man Rebooted' thread on Byrne Robotics?
The laughter, and the tears, begin on about page 42, and from this point don't really let up.
I know this sort of thing (linking-ish, to other message boards for comic purposes) is against Barbelith policy; it's a fair point, but I'd argue that, in this case, those guys have gone somewhere beyond comedy.
There's everything in there (the raging paranoia, the love interests, the sense of an old god who's nearly dead, etc) that you'd need to write a great novel, or play. JB as King Lear? Maybe. Certainly, Thomas Hardy, if he was alive today, might have got a kick out of the dialogue.
I'm over-selling this, I suppose.
But it's basically both beautiful, and terrible. |
