The thing is, the conspiracy theory thing is so Barbelithy that it's gone out of fashion - conspiracy theories are so nineties, darling! I didn't think that Zeitgeist was that bad but the problem is that people who haven't been introduced to the subject before tend to believe the whole thing entirely, thus replacing the Gospels films like Zeitgeist are deconstructing with a new, "Zeitgeist" gospel in a horrible post modern downward spiral of yawns. By this point, the wriggling squid of truth has wondered off and found something much more interesting to do.

general criticism seems to be focused on some aspects of part one of this movie,ie christianity,, how come so few comments are made about the rest of the movie,,what about the truths in this movie? it appears that its harshs critics hav`nt watched it yet,,,that seems odd to me.. also how is this movie antisemitic, it may be seen as anti christian,or anti neoconservative, it may even be seen as anti american (or anti `amero`). by calling it antisemitic is a smoke screen, what do others think the film makers were trying to do ? GWB would call this movie and its makers unpatriotic (but as we all should know `patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel`)

There are all sorts of things we can and should be attacking George Bush for, none of which involve squids, lizards, evil Jews, etc.

There are even things we can and should be attacking the Israel Lobby for, none of which involve squids, lizards, evil Jews, etc; and indeed going about this business with a focus on squids and lizards and evil Jews is likely to be detrimental.

what about the truths in this movie?

Care to outline the truths and how you know they are true?

I'm about ten minutes into the second part of this movie, and already I'm getting some blatant exaggerations (if not out and out falsehoods). In the scrolling list of similarities between egyptian mythology and christian doctrine, if one were to pause the video one will find things like this:

Seb, Isis and Horus, the Kamite holy trinity = Joseph, Mary and Jesus, a Christian holy trinity

Osiris = Lazarus

Horus as the black child = Jesus as the little black bambino

Horus (Ra) as the great cat = Jesus as the cat

Guh? I mean, c'mon. The scrolling list is full of things that are coincidental, silly, completely unrelated or not actually true. I found the first part of the film interesting, but now I can't trust a lot of the information I received.

Just reached the bit describing Joseph, son of Jacob from the book of Genesis, as a "prototype" of Jesus. The similarities described in the film are pretty silly. I'm not sure I can make it through the film.

I watched the thing when the thread was started last year, but now I can only play the 1st 20 mins of it *headdesk*. Also I need to collate some refs. on the sources, but my internet is having a doucheout. So to start with I'll just say: WTF is up with Ancient Egyptians etc all having a 25th of December for their solar deities to get born on? It was very nice of them to use our calendar.

Zeigeist = (Loose Change + DaVinci Code) / What the Bleep?

Mashed, for my money (which was, um, free on the internet)... Zeitgeist is an intriguing mess. Intriguing if you haven't encountered the ideas before, but dumbing them down (ala DaVinci), making a poorly sourced, mixed mash of them (ala Bleep), and inserting poison pills into the resultant stew that might make the wary & paranoid cry "COINTELPRO! DISINFO!" (Loose Change).

I'd recommend a large grain of salt and the application of a copy of Neal Wilgus's Illuminoids to the fevered brain.

oh jesus god no she's RIGHT--oh wait, no she isn't.

On the plus side, the movie did make me hunt down Network which, from all accounts, is a fine piece of film.

Yeah. Network is awesome. Zeitgeist less so.
That said, I do find the credulity of those who seek to understand the Great Deception fairly hilarious. If you are like me, you could do worse than searching "zeitgeist sucks", or similar. Lulz like you've never seen, although some do hide a few pages into the google.

Totally been looking at OMGZEITGEIST videos again recently, and I blame this thread's rebirth. I also blame a friend of mine, but you don't want to hear about that.

Here's a video.

There are loads, and I picked that one because it was the one I was watching just there. He raises an interesting point about the 'why' of zeitgeist that provokes my already simmering curiosity, but largely I posted it as a representative of the many videos about the film that have appeared.

And a review, if anyone is still interested enough to read it.

I wasn't keen on the generalizations about religious groups in the first Zeitgeist. Especially the misunderstanding of Hindu mythology. However, there is something of interest (pun not intended) in the Addendum's elaboration on Modern Money Mechanics. I am not sure at this point if there is any subtle, if not glaring, misinformation. I do like the perspective on technology and profit. Anyway, judge for yourself:
