Volume 2 is also out, apparently it's not as strong, but I'm still going to chance my arm. If anyone reading this likes it, I would ask you to buy it directly, the money is going to a grime distribution company, and the artist has to get more a cut than he’d get with a record deal.
As I was saying upthread, perhaps this points to a new method of music distribution? Very quickfire "disposable"* product coming out every few months, not "album polished", but earning the musicans involved a bit of spare cash? Possibly the reason the price is so low is to level it out for the target audience – all of the 16-17 year olds I know have stated they’d buy more CDs if they weren’t 15 fucking quid a throw. Also, if one plans to release every few months, stands to reason to keep the costs down.
*”Disposable” here meaning rapidly renewed and replaced, not “mindless pop crap”
Oh, and in case Power Vacumns returns, discussion on Grime’s inherent evil should happen here |
