The BBC method is super far superior, in my opinion.
I'm not a fan of Drive and would probably never have watched it, but has nobody ever heard of "building an audience?"
I know most TV is stupid, but I like to give it the benefit of the doubt. I can kinda sorta understand cancelling a sitcom after seven or eight eps if it's unfunny and nobody watches it, but something with a planned season arc deserves to fail on its merits rather than get yanked before it starts to cook, dad burn it.
Hell, who knows. Maybe the writers had no idea what they were doing and were pulling it out of their butts every week, but generally series like this have some idea of where they're going and why.
If you approve a series for a season, let them have a season! |
