this outfit, Mist?

Yes, that one! I was not sure, if she head another one. But I checked and she did; when she had her our way/highway line, so I added the colour.

Allecto - An enormous, beautiful intergalactic pleasure cruiser, sleek, streamlined and platinum plated, built by some fabulously wealthy spacefaring species.

(This is pretty much entirely because your name is *uncannily* reminiscent of the kind of names I used to invent for my (as previously mentioned on the History of Usernames Thread and now almost certainly never to be written) novel about giant space vehicles with elegant names.)

The "Allecto Regina".

Keep on wishing Boboss, in the meantime have a cheeseburger and save the princess! x

boboss is a tall, well groomed monkey being fawned over by subordinates who are nowhere near as dashing...

and sax is a tall rangy man with hat at a rakish angle, chewing on a quill.

I have been overtaken by a strange urge to buy a white blazer now. Barbelith does funny things to your mind.

before I saw a pic from the back of her head (in some onld topic), I used to picture Mordant Carnival as a tall woman with very long blood-red hair.

Haus always wears a tie in my mind. And he works at some gray-ish public office, dealing with ignorant people all day long. Kind of a kafkanian imagery, I guess

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
17:27 / 11.04.07
What do I look like?

(Nothing to do with this thread, I'm just a bit pissed and can't actually remember).

Triplets
17:34 / 11.04.07
Boringly, I see most of you as your self-photos. Except for; Haus, who I imagine to be Dave Tennant with Doctor 9's personality; and Boboss, who I imagine looks like the older brother I never had.

Olulabelle
17:36 / 11.04.07
Stoatie, I can't do you, because I've seen you. Unless you really need to know what you look like, in which case I refer you to one of the Gathering threads or Mondagogo's flickr pages.

Quantum, where has your picture gone?

I think this thread is delightful and absolutely fascinating. It's really interesting to hear what people think and I like the fact that although it started off as people's names, now styles of posting are coming into it too. Id's descriptions of the sounds of everyone were beautiful.

Hosting issues- let me try again...

"Boboss is an eye that looks like it's winking even when it's totally wide open. Because you know it's really winking and in charge"

Boboss knows all, Boboss sees all, his gaze pierces stone and flesh..

Stoatie: A cross between Billy Idol and Jack Kerouac.

Our Lady Has Left the Building
17:59 / 11.04.07
Well, it's tricky because I have of course, tracked you all down to where you live, broken in to your houses and watched you while you slept, so I do know what you all look like, but before I did that I did always imagine Jack Fear as a bald R Lee Emery with Alan Moore's walking cane. The rest of you I mentally filled in with either Ned Flanders or the Cat Flinging Lady as appropriate.

I... I really don't know what to say about this eye stuff...

Um...

I quite like being a well groomed monkey. I think that's me.

18:24 / 11.04.07
Stoats is not a stoat, surely, but something furry and longish and cute. Prarie dog. That's has enough sense to put a door on its holes, so they aren't trapping unway human legs. Perpetually baby prarie dog in an ermine coat and blue-lensed shades.

Jack Fear is John Constantine with Norman Osborne's hairstyle. And there may be no end to what he can do just by turning in the direction of something.

Allecto Regina looks like one of the contestant-stands on 'Jeopardy'. Because of the classic "Part of Canada named after a British Prince" and the answer, straight away, "What is Regina?"

Seth is a translucent spacesuit with no apparent wearer, sitting in the egg-chair from 'The Prisoner' and watching. In order. Everything.

Haus is Jeremy Paxman (and thanks to whoever brought up that comparison in the Barbecrush thread).

Quantum
18:37 / 11.04.07
Not even nearly as smug as Paxman though, crikey.

Olulabelle
18:42 / 11.04.07
No absolutely. It was me in the Barbecrush thread but I didn't mean the smugness. I just meant the dogged determination to actually. get. an. answer.

Wow, that's spooky!!!

Actually, Stoatie looks like a cartoon version of his real self.

19:15 / 11.04.07
I like that many of the perceptions of Haus feature suits, tweed or otherwise, because I have a picture of The Most Fashionable Pinstripe when it comes to said particular poster. No hat, though.

Quantum carries a certain air of relaxation, and, quite possibly, a large stick for when speaking softly no longer applies.

Apart from that, nothing springs immediately to mind...

I think Haus is most like Paxman before he became so smug.

I think we should get Haus to start doing a daily weather forecast thread for Barbelith...

(threadrot)

This is kind of weird but not big enough to go into the "Coincidence Log" over at the Temple. I only yesterday saw the famous clip where Paxman actualy asks the same question twelve times to Michael howard today on a dutch television station. Had it not been for this coincidence I never would have grasped the meaning of many things that have been said above.

(/threadrot)

To me, for the short time that I've been here, a few posters have come across as very visual. Mind, these are beginner's impressions.

Talks to strangers (not to be rude, "but still Mordant Carnival" is still one of the best fic-names I've ever come across) has always appeared very much like a collection of the most magical images from the series "Carnivale".

Haus appears to me to be pretty much a cross between a supercomputer and a vigilant yet caring German shepherd who would rescue you from a well. Provided you stated why.

Princess Swashbuckling's name visualizes for me a cross between a pirate and his swagger, a ballet-dancer's grace, Eddie Izzard's sense of humor, and a departed male friend of mine with a mohawk in black heels and make-up on.

Sorry if this comes across very demeaning or insulting, in a spur of the moment I visualised and tried to write down what I saw...

Just so I'll know.

I always imagine Haus as a, well, a talking house. But then I am cursed with over literal-ness.

Stand back! Stand back, or risk infection!

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
16:25 / 12.04.07
Jack Fear...well. The "grumpy old man" image has so often been applied to Jack that I can only see a wizened old man with a cane, wearing a mottled pink bathrobe and shouting at the world in the middle of the street.

Triplets shifts for me, I imagine hir as three hive-minded blonde super-telepaths or old school Silver Age Triplicate Girl.

Many ravishing idperfections is a fractal creature, appearing not twice the same way. I actually picture him as a bit of an imp that's constantly shifting shapes as needed.

Our Lady, probably for reasons for the "Steel Uterus" period, is a vast Steel-skinned Saint, a Metal Madonna, and there's always a hint of metallic tang to the air when ze posts.

Yes, but now she's changed herself to Our Lady Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, I can only think of black and white photos of the Fab Four surrounding John Lennon's mum and offering her cups of tea.

A late one.

Here's how I picture Quantum (Interplanetary Man of Mistery)
