Boboss - what about sedum matting of the type that is used for green roofs? I believe it can be laid on the ground as well. It might be prohibitively expensive, cos it seems to require several sub-layers for drainage, growing medium, etc., but it would provide a softer surface without having to break up the paving? You could have a central strip of that, with big pots and planters at the edges growing courgettes, flowers, herbs etc. |
