Wow, that's a brilliant issue. The bearded magus of Northampton!

And a Doctor Who cameo, too.

Fun stuff. Felt a little slower and buildy-uppy after the pace of the first four issues, which turns out to be a good thing.

I Must Be Threadkiller. No posts since September? Did everyone decide to collectively ignore the rest of No Future for You?

I stick by my last post; it's definitely fun stuff. The Faith arc was largely setup and character development, along with some intriguing instances.

#10, though, Anywhere but Here, I love. Mostly because of the truth behind Robin, which is pretty heartrending.

The plotting behind it, as well, had me impressed, mainly leading up to the revelation of Willow's guilt over the fact that she'll always choose the one who can save the world over the one she loves, even when she has the chance to walk away.

I've been enjoying this and buying it whenever new issues come out - just haven't felt inspired to post. It's good stuff.

very enjoyable - great psych-out on revealing the ID of Twilight. Rich Johnston and others have hinted that the next issue (which is #12, I think...?) will actually reveal his ID and that this reveal will be A Big Deal. Rich speculated that it would be a former major Buffy character returning, now a baddie. What do you all think...? Rich's idea sounds plausible, but would that really be The Huge Deal Rich said it would be?

new issue , NO SPOILERS ahead. - other than the thing that the NYTimes and ABC News and many other news sources have been covering, I was more interested in the big reveal of __________, as opposed to __________ , who many people had been predicting based on a few hints thrown out there by Rich Johnston and such. Very curious to see why this character has been brought back, and why of all people they would send ___________ to go talk to him/her.

It's probably the best issue of the series so far, with a bunch of really funny moments. But, the comic is far, far from what the show was. The new characters created in the comic have essentially no personality and I'm not particularly interested in the direction they're taking the series characters. I was more interested in Buffy and Xander the people, not the soldiers, and now everyone's all business. Let the girl enjoy herself for once, why's there always got to be a new threat?

In some ways, it feels like the show is the X-Men under Claremont, while the comic is the X-Men after Claremont left. It may have the same characters, and the occasional flash of greatness, but generally speaking, it's too consumed in plot to just let the characters be themselves.

pretty fun stuff... Dracula's arc and all his dialogue are hilarious.

Who is that supposed to be in the final panel? One of the vamps on the final page having just done a shape-shift or something like that? (and of course, we all note the famous item that character is holding)

I do like the Dracula arc, along with the idea that he and Xander bonded - it's strikes me as so leftfield and unexpected as to teeter on the brink of brilliance, even if it's let down by the comedy olde-worlde racism.

New issue: More quality entertainment, along with MANY laughs provided by Cloverfield scribe Drew Goddard. Giant-sized Dawn meets... an adversary! Dracula and Xander's bonding continues further... and some dramatic moments as well.

What ill-fated pact did Willow make with her reptilian Goddess lover? Surely this is some devilish foreshadowing...

And in the letter column, they hint at a possible Season Nine. Just wishful thinking, or something that Joss & Co. are really considering...?

Melaka Fray: "Buffy Summers is dead."

Buffy Summers: "Occasionally."

Still a good read, folks. Plus, a major Big Bad is revealed... and it's quite surprising.

Why does the "THIS WARN YOU" look so familiar in the new issue...? It is from V for Vendetta or something...? (they say there's another Alan Moore reference in there)

It's from the Black Dossier (LOEG), the full page Nu-Speak warning at the beginning. I'm still loving this season 8 too- it's little things like that and big things like ... well, you know.
One line that made me laugh was when Buffy says 'Wow, your future English is really messed up- maybe I should've been nicer to it' or words to that effect. Tee hee!

"Wow. Spoiler alert." as Buffy sheds a tear upon seeing no mention of her or her army of Slayers in the history books (plus something that she says 'is too ridiculous to contemplate', I wonder if that's setting something up for the future in Season Eight... although hard to see how you could get more ridiculous than Centaur Dawn)

Great issue, very solid. "You don't need to curse like a nerd, baby" from Kennedy was one of her few great lines. The Big Bad is a very curious one here, motivation-wise.

I shudder a bit for Meltzer's arc, although that will be the first time we've seen Meltzer scripting a Whedon plot - the two are very different stylistically, whereas someone like Brian K. Vaughn writes in a style similar to Joss.
