It's probably the best issue of the series so far, with a bunch of really funny moments. But, the comic is far, far from what the show was. The new characters created in the comic have essentially no personality and I'm not particularly interested in the direction they're taking the series characters. I was more interested in Buffy and Xander the people, not the soldiers, and now everyone's all business. Let the girl enjoy herself for once, why's there always got to be a new threat?
In some ways, it feels like the show is the X-Men under Claremont, while the comic is the X-Men after Claremont left. It may have the same characters, and the occasional flash of greatness, but generally speaking, it's too consumed in plot to just let the characters be themselves. |
