Has anyone else been watching this? Dethklok, the ultimate black/death metal band are the biggest band in the world. And the most brutal. BRUTAL!!!

It's just ace. Lots of metal in-jokes (the "Dimmu Burger" franchise, the King Diamond guest voice thing) but lots of good old-fashioned Adult Swim FUNNY SHIT, which you don't have to be a metalhead to get. (The in-jokes, to me, though, make it more affectionate than it could otherwise have been. These guys KNOW what they're taking the piss out of).

I've watched the first six so far, but my favourite moment has to be when Dethklok are doing a coffee ad. Interviewer- "Aren't you worried your fans will think you've sold out, doing a coffee ad?" Lead singer Nathan Explosion (Nathan Explosion. What a great name. The only one in the band who beats him is William Murderface) replies "NO. We will make coffee METAL. We will make everything... METAL".

Really, it's the bestest. Ten-minute episodes that just fill me with far more glee than is healthy.

I canna remember which ep this is, but it's the one where it's Murderface'c birthday, and the rest of the band decide to fuck with him. They give him his present in front of a massive crowd. Paraphrased - "The most metal present of them ALL: NOTHING!"

Just saw episode 1, and I have to admit: those guys are the MOST METAL METAL BAND EVAH!

I particularly liked their bio-organic, dragon-shaped mountain, hellish hang-out. And Murderface (Murderface, Murderface, MURDERFACE) looks eerily like Ned Flanders.

This show is the total nuts, it's perfect 1am telly. I think the music in the show is better than it has any right to be, I hear they're releasing an album of it soon.

My favourite ep so far is the one where there's an assassin in the castle and he keeps killing people but the band barely notice, even though they care deeply for their employees. METAL!!!

WOW. I just watched the one with the Snakes'n'Barrels reunion... and fuck me if it wasn't the funniest one yet.

I'm seriously on the verge of giving up all other TV shows. Yes, including Who, Galactica AND Dog Borstal. Many years ago, I told everyone I knew that Sunset Beach was the reason they invented TV. And I believed it. I know now that I was wrong. Sunset Beach was merely the John the Baptist to Metalocalypse's Jesus.

This just rocks on a ridiculously high level. You can't even SEE eleven from here. That was AGES ago!

This is the good shit, for sure. Anyone who'd read Kerrang! magazine over the last 30 years would surely agree.

Anyway, maybe I'm out of touch, but it does seem the primary artifact being drawn from is surely '...Some Kind of Monster', the Metallica biopic - interesting to see Hetfield and Hammett both do voicework occasionally here, not sure for whom. I had thought Hetfield = Explosion, but not every ep it appears? Yeah, stuff with the therapist and the producer do seem like the 'what should have happened' versions from said biopic (e.g. the album should have been so heavy that Bob Rock's eyes imploded.)

Did any of you watch Home Movies (also created by him) or am I the only one that liked that show?
I remember an episode where the space-heroes Starboy and his brother the Captain of Outer Space fight supervillains George Washington, Pablo Picasso and Annie Oakley. Then Washington unleashes his new killing machine, Mr. Pants, on the hostages, Shakespeare, Oliver Twist and the Mermaid Queen.

The scientists haven't come with the results yet, but its probably the best thing ever.

I loved the appreciation song in that episode and the visit to the hot dog factory. Home Movies was hugely underrated, with fantastic naturalistic dialogue, a sort of Mike Leigh meets Chuck Jones deal...

Seriously, you just made me want to go view all the episodes again. That show not only rocks, it metals, it brutals, it kicks ass and on top of that, it's just pretty damn funny.

I was trying to figure out who the different characters are meant to represent, because I can see a lot of peter steele in Nathan explosion, but I can't figure out who the rest of the bandmembers might be derived from. Although Murderface reminds me GG Allin.

FUCK YES!!! This is the episode that I show to everyone to try and hook them, I swear I laughed for nearly half an hour when I saw that (granted, it was about three in the morning, and I may have been a little chemically enhanced). It still makes me chuckle now, making me look like a nutter in the office.

I also though Tokei's Underwater Friends bit from the following episode was too funny as well. This show has become like many others that I can't really watch while too inebriated, as the laugher is so uncontrolable and manic and prone to sudden, unpredictable outbursts of brilliance. There's a brilliant line in this every ten seconds, at least. It's comedy dynamite. (I'm going to stop now, before this post becomes a three-page long list of 'Oh!! Do you remember that bit!?')

I'm only up to half way through episode three so far, but this is certainly the most brutal thing around.

I showed two friends the first two episodes on Saturday, when they were supposed to be helping me shift furniture. One, singer with the redoubtable Owlls, wanted to watch all of the avaialbke episodes immediately, over and over. Another, former biker and all round good bloke barbarian of Crom-sized proportions, kept repeating "this is like all of my dreams as a teenager". You cannot really get higher praise for METAL* than that.

So I'd better watch the rest of the episodes.
