I actually find that I don't really listen to the album very much apart from three, maybe four songs: the singles ('Back To Black', 'You Know I'm No Good', 'Rehab') and 'Tears Dry On Their Own'. If you're downloading, Stoats, I'd go for those, in that order.

I love Internet jukeboxes now because I download Amy Winehouse songs at my local and wish I were as awesome as she is.

But a leetle more sober, of course. Just a little.

I've been listening to the Winehouse CD I made a lot in the last week and it's really grown on me to the point that it's constantly what's on in the car player. (And my SO, with whom I almost never agree on music, also loves it, to my surprise). Having gotten more familiar with it I'd say Back to Black is by far the superior album. I love You Know I'm No Good, Love is a Losing Game, Me & Mr Jones... and my favorite song is a cover track called Valerie - it's a live perfomance that I downloaded, should be pretty easy to find.

Frank is overproduced, too jazzy in a way that sounds inauthentic, and - whether this was her choice or a producer's I don't know - the way Amy sings on it is a little cookie cutter for me, sounding like some kind of sassy Erykah Badu clone. ...Bearing in mind that I still enjoy some of the songs, the album just pales in comparison to Back to Black, where the music is richer, the lyrics more complex, and Amy's voice much stronger and more (for lack of a better word) beautiful. If she sticks around and works with the right people I could see her developing further and becoming truly great as time goes on.

As far as the image goes, I rather think it's overhyped. I'm suspicious of the role her gender plays in the shock value, or glamor factor, or whatever it is that makes her drinking the focus of so much attention. And maybe I'm just getting old and crotchety, but I don't find being a drinker who's unlucky in love either incredibly alluring & cool or shockingly sad & offensive. Mostly I find it a distraction from who she is as a musician, which is fascinating enough in its own right.

I found out about her due to watching nevermind the buzzcocks reruns. Then, when I found some youtube clips of varying performances, I was blown away. I'm currently listening to "Rehab" and I'm in love with her voice and the attitude ozzing through. The low nooo-nooo-nooo's are spine-chilling, it's amazing. I've not heard a voice like this in popular music for some time, and it's very exciting.

I'm quite annoyed with her at the moment - not because of her music, but because of an article I read about her in yesterday's Sun where she expressed pride at hitting her boyfriend whilst drunk. The quote went something along the lines of "If he says one thing I don't like, I chin him one". When did this become acceptable? If Liam Gallagher said the same thing about his missus, then there would be uproar. I don't believe anyone should hit their partner, male or female, and I definitely think that such behaviour should not be tolerated on any level. I know she's smaller than him and quite likely to weakened by alcohol abuse and eating disorders, but that doesn't make it ok.

Rant officially over. Thankyou for reading.

The album is wonderful-though i was not expecting it to be so! But i wouldn't worry about her boyfriend, she ain't no Lydia Lunch!
She seems really young and probably simply needs the attitude to get her music through...

My punk-metal friends are slowly warming to the strength and hilarious lyrics of one Amy Winehouse, plus the attractiveness of the girl helps. She's got such an incredible voice, it instantly makes people go, "Who is that chick?"
