Approximately, yeah. Not quite how I read the actual suits themselves - at least, "Passionate Dynamic" isn't quite how I read swords.

I don't remember exactly what they originally showed me when I learned the form, but I was already thoroughly used to, if not well educated about the Tarot by then, and since it's not meant to be serious I never tried very hard to specifically avoid the correlation.

I've half-decided that spades signify protection spells (active protection, as opposed to passive wards). But it's still unclear.

Personally, when I see the spade suit I think of the gardening tool that I use to break up dirt when I'm planting my flowers.

I feel like there is something there worth taking out, but I can't seem to bring the words to the keyboard. Thought I'd throw it out and maybe later I'll try to expand.

spades makes sense for active protection, since--whether as weapon or tool--it's the only suit that's imposing the will outward (unless the love spells you're talking about are more of the lefthand variety), rather than drawing something toward.

*giggles* This is probably a sign I need to sleep now, but...

I was just pondering the 4 suits/elements with regards to Active Defense vs. Passive Defense, and fell into a silly thought:

Defense
Offense
That which is Defended
That which is Offended

Err.... wait... no.
