I only have 34,794 words done but I do have the week off work. If only I wasn't lazy...

It´s the same with me, autran. Since I don´t have to work there are no excuses, why I wouldn´t finish this, and if I fail to hit 50.000 it´s just because of my slothness winning once again.

But you can do it, it´s only 3.800 words a day for you!

49,000.

I would finish it now, but I have a couple of chapters left, and I'd like to actually finish with one of them, rather than just padding the bit I'm on at the moment (I find it really hard to stop mid-chapter- or rather, I find it hard to pick up the thread again when I do that).

So tomorrow I should cross the finishing line!

Thanks for the encouragement, Mistoffelees
I'm up to 43,015 now
How about you?

48.631! I´m very confident, that I will finish today! But at the same time, this makes me nervous. I don´t know yet, how I feel about havin written such a large amount of prose.

w00t!

Come on, everyone! You can fucking do it!

(A couple of chapters still exist in fragments only, but that can be rectified tomorrow, or indeed... LATER).

I'm up to just under 22,000. So all I need to do is write about 28,000 tonight and I'm there! Wooo!!
Woo.

BIZUNTH!!!

Frankly, I don't care whether you finish or not. I'm just glad you're alive!

I'm alive, just about, combination of writing requirements and life issues has kept me from posting. Plus I feel really guilty about what happened to the eighties horror Mafia game. May as well be honest.
Really chuffed you won and hope you do something with it. Same goes for everyone who took part, you're all heroes! There should be a grand parade with all the light-blinded, coffee-stained participants on top of a big London bus jerry-rigged to look like a giant book. My contribution this year was somewhere between my win in 2002 and my total failure to launch in 2004 but it has something special. Namely... pirates.

Woohhooho! Move over, Goethe, I wrote my first novel ever!

I finished at 50.310 words with "The End ?"

There is enough story left for the sequel. The last scene was my protagonist sitting in a padded room, mumbling to himself, rocking back and forth while his cat Anton watched him, and thought "It might take a while, until he´s ok again. It doesn´t matter... I can wait.".

Congratulations Stoatie, and thanks for the kind words, Bizunth! I of course expect more Barbeloids to finish in the next 30 - 40 hours.

The certificate has got so much spiffier in the past 4 years. Wish I'd made more of an effort now. It's like something from Bioshock...

Just scraped in with 12 hours to spare this year
I blame fourth year complacency for my lack of preparation

Still ... yee ha!

For real, I fizzed out after about 12,000 words this year. Oh well, I had a lot of other stuff going on.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:38 / 04.12.06
I made it to about 20,000 but the story's only half-done.

Is anybody doing anything with their work now? Rewrites, polishing, starting from scratch with a better plan? I've done a bunch of planning on how the second draft is going to go and rethinking my approach to the characters.

I managed to reach 50,000 words also! I did swap to PST though, since I was in that timezone when I actually finished the novel. My novel made a great travelling companion.
