How come the kid speeds up? And how can light have a speed if it has no time to travel in?

it's better to talk about "c" than it is to talk about "the speed of light". c is a constant relating space and time. it just so happens to be the speed that light travels at becuase light has no rest mass. anyway c is the same for all observers no matter what weird frame of reference they exist in, so the kid who sees everything else stop, still sees light travelling at c.

thinking that time has stopped is a common side effect of travelling at speeds close to c. see time dilation.

re: unicorns: surely oral sex still counts as a no-no for unicorns. if we're limited to putting bling blings into yub yubs, homosexuals would have a huge unicorn-riding advantage.

You could stop time and probably light also in a black hole according to Mitcho Kako, in this clip from his BBC series about Time .

It has also been suggested that time can flow at different rates by even reversed by Lawrence Schulman of Clarkson University in New York, but these kind of physics theories are considered philosophy rather than actual testable science.

If anybody is a bit unsure of the science of relativity, black holes, time, string theory, grand unified theory, branes, multiple dimensions, quantum physics, parallel universes, what is philosophy not science and 'how this can be taught to dogs' then Brian Greens documentary The Elegant Universeis available to watch at PBS, I highly recommended it if you are unsure of any of the above topics.
