...Make that a mighty THREE of us! We’ll be the most exclusive league evah! etc etc

Bed Head
18:39 / 18.08.06
My! What sharp eyes you have, young suedey. ‘Thought I might have sneakily snuck into your league there, but you SAW IT ALL.

Hm. Can I end up being relegated from a league of three, tho?

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!
21:46 / 18.08.06
No, I think we shall all be winners!

astrojax69
00:13 / 19.08.06
...or all relegated!!

i'd chosen blinkin' michael owen - a first transfer of the season, clear out dead wood, eh?

The Falcon
19:56 / 19.08.06
Right, I've given you lads a week's head-start, so you'd best make use of it.

Oh, apparently you have. Anyway, the Red Ultras are in business now, and you want to see the forward line. Tsss.

The Falcon
20:09 / 19.08.06
Balls, now it won't let me sign back in. Apparently you can go 3-4-3, which is a bonus for FF I'd think.

The Falcon
20:15 / 19.08.06
Ah, back on, never mind, rocking a tateful 4-3-3, actually. Will I post again? Who knows?

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!
21:45 / 19.08.06
Way to go team!

GOOD ONE LUCAS NEILL etcetc

How come it sez Bedders is in/from Tanzania, and astro didn't have to choose a team to support?

(My granny lives in Tanzania, so interest is piqued.)

Bed Head
13:09 / 20.08.06
Just picked it out from the Big List Of Countries, is all. It was there, I couldn’t resist. I once had a friend who was always raving on about this, like, totally life-changing maaaan trip to Tanzania that she’d been on, and she had the flag pinned on her bedroom wall. It's a really nice flag.

Er, am I in the lead? That’ll be the lovely Nigel Reo-Coker, then. I always liked him best.

The Falcon
15:17 / 20.08.06
Oh blast, I totally would've repped for TZ or Botswana (where I was born, and a factor which generally means I tend to think my chances of international caps > yours, unless you are actually a professional footballer) if I'd noticed you could do that.

You do lead, yes. Deeply unsurprised by one of yr forwards.

The Falcon
15:37 / 20.08.06
Ah, you can change it. Do you too live for these constant updates?

Anyway, just a tip, Arsenal and Wigan are not playing in gameweek 2 apparently, so I have naturally benched Henry (and McCulloch, but he was there anyway.)

The Falcon
15:42 / 20.08.06
Oh, and astro's literal super-Sunday tips the balance his way. Isn't this fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone else wants to sign up, g'wan, g'wan, you can do it for the forthcoming week by 7.30pm (BST) on Tuesday.

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!
20:48 / 20.08.06
AAAAAAAAAAACCCK

I felt so positive you know. I think for gameweek two I'm struggling to even have any players who are actually, y'know, playing...

astrojax69
22:00 / 20.08.06
lucas neill and wayne rooney - what a dynamic duo! (i guess i have to manually sub lucas for the next fixture - no tribunal to do it for me, then?? )

i picked 'other' for team to support - they didn't have crystal palace and woe betide them for that, for they get instead, behold! the might of plastic palace...

stupidly, too, had reina in goal and left cech on the bench. derr...

to anyone reading this going 'wha'??!', c'mon in, the water's fine...

Bed Head
13:38 / 21.08.06
Yeah, c’mon kids, join usssssss

(Regarding my first week, in my defence I’ll just say that I’ve never actually played fantasy football before. So, only now do I realise that picking non-injured, non-suspended players is sorta important to the whole game-thing. So, basically, it’s not fantasy fantasy football, then: they can’t play in yr head if they’re currently injured in the real world, gotcha. Likewise, Joey Cole won’t whizz around on a little cloud like in ‘Monkey’, and eeny-weeny ickle Jermain won’t be playing in a dress and fluffy slippers, and Aaron Lennon can't collect swirly power-ups like in R-Type. Oh-kay. Righto. *re-thinks plans for gameweek 2*)

The Falcon
17:46 / 21.08.06
Well, I have played before, but it's all a bit revised and revamped from those years I see from checking the rules; apparently yr captain gets double-points - that'll be a striker, then. Henry, or this week only, Johnson (who's a total snip, reckon,) in my case. And I still cannot work out how defenders are scoring; they used to be subject to a lot of minus points, but I see Friedel's actually second top goalie this week?! Did save a pen, I guess.

astrojax69
22:25 / 21.08.06
i've never fantasised football before, neether, and i am still rather dark on how scoring occurs (i gather scoring a goal is a good thing, thanks wayne) but the rest - i shall have to squirm about the site and get a handle. so, it was all beginners luck plastic palace surging into the lead.)

like the real palace, i'm sure the bubble will burst!

i like the idea of players zooming about the pitch on monkey's cloud - lucas neill to pigsy, passes to sandy, lobs over the defence into the run of tripitaca, scores! gooooaaaaaaaallllllll.....

The Falcon
19:18 / 23.08.06
Wow, my night last night pwned all you guys's! More o' the same please, team. It's about the only football-related thing that will ease the pain and humiliation of last night's CIS Cup exit to Scotland's only amateur league side, Queen's Park, on pens; think Sutton Utd. v. Coventry, all those years back, and you're probably close.

astrojax69
22:44 / 23.08.06
be nice if some of my players got some time on the pitch...

thanks be to viduka, though. what a champion! and australian....

saw cahill came off the bench, too, to get a vital goal for the toffees, just when the gaffer was spoutin' stuff about curbing his attacking instincts in their new team formation!! wonder what the words tasted like..?

this league thing, then. bonus points. goal assists. what's all this and where on the site is the full info on how points are scored / unscored...? am i blind?

The Falcon
23:28 / 23.08.06
God, it is a bastard to find, actually; you have to go to My team and then Help, to finally get how points are scored.

The Falcon
23:45 / 23.08.06
You can also make one transfer a week, without a -4 points deduction garnered for any excess above - I just made my first, Stefanovic in for Delaney who doesn't appear to be playing; Suedey, take note. Once per season you can do as many as you want by playing the 'wild card'.

astrojax69
04:29 / 24.08.06
fab-o falc. now on to the swap shop... but who of similar value is playing anyway...?

game week three, bring it on - plastic palace will rip it up, man; rip - it - up...

or not...

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!
11:03 / 24.08.06
Right! I'm not giving up! Aaaaah! I mean sure, I had literally nobody playing in gameweek 2 but hey, it's a slow start to the season after all... right? I've practically a brand new team and... and... oh, I've ballsed it up already, haven't I?

I was so hopeful.

The Falcon
17:48 / 24.08.06
If it's a complete disaster, just play your wildcard naaaoohw, Suede.

Otherwise, you = Iain Dowie.

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!
17:59 / 24.08.06
Oh, I've played that card, thus the brand new team! So now we'll see it all go wrong again... but hey!

Bed Head
18:06 / 24.08.06
I like the way we’re all of us doing rubbish compared to the beard-strokey big boys on yr ‘ILX League of Champs,’ suedey! That’s what I like about barbelith. We’re proper geeks here. In the being-rubbish, it’s-not-the-winning-it’s-the-picking-the-players-you-crush-on-that-counts sense of the word. Never mind about the brainaic anaylsis and knowing the actual rules and all that nonsense.

So, you’re winning, really.

The Falcon
21:09 / 24.08.06
I do not endorse your message, Bed, even if I know it to be true of myself; how could I resist the thought of African fullbacks Paintsil, Eboue and Trabelsi, with their thunderous charges down the flank?!

I couldn't, and that's the long and short of it. However, I have had a decentish week, and will be regularly comparing penis-si... ah, score with these ILX chaps.

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!
22:09 / 24.08.06
Ha yes! I did really base my team on all the ones I had a bit of a crush on or just like and think "heee! Oh, you! You little quirkster!". (oooh I like that Eboue yeah! Little jarmaine! etc)

Also I picked a guy named Blizzard first time round. Let me say again; a guy named Blizzard.

I don't really know who is in my team anymore. Except Thierry. Thierry stays.

The Falcon
22:20 / 24.08.06
Hah, I thought the Blizzard inclusion was some London inside knowledge - 'ah, yeah, he's at Watford now, but he'll make an impact on the Prem, you'll see. Luvvaduck, etc.' Right. It explains a lot.
