A friend is looking for a book he used to own: There is a man who is flashing back in time to witness Christ's last days. At the end, he is about to intervene as Christ is being executed and is stabbed by a spear by a roman soldier. He wakes up in present time, and there is a medallion(?) or something, with a big dent where he was stabbed in his flashback.
At first I thought he was thinking of "Behold the Man", but that's not it...
