Is it likely that a weapons procurer and a Saudi militant would hang themselves for political reasons and not psychological ones?

Your problem is that you think there's a dichotomy between the two...

The US naval base pre-dates Castro and only makes continued bad relations seem even more farcical

from wikipedia - The United States controls the land on both sides of the southern part of Guantánamo Bay (Bahía de Guantánamo in Spanish) under a lease set up in the wake of the 1898 Spanish-American War.

Sorry to rot this thread into Cuban history 101, but how come Castro didn't kick them out in the revolution?

Assuming that the Pentagon is telling the truth

They've had almost five years to find the evidence to back their accusations up. I'm assuming they haven't as you'd have thought some of it might have been presented in a court of law by now if they had.
I am not willing to suspend the basic assumption of most civilised justice systems, "innocent till proven guilty", just because some men with big guns tell me to.
Therefore all these boys and men are, in my eyes, innocent of the crimes with which they have not been charged.

There's a treaty dating back to 1903, I think, when the first (American) president of Cuba handed it to the US.
Oh, and they have better guns. And it used to be surrounded by the largest minefield in the western world.

Pretty much what Cube says. Legally, Castro doesn't have an amazingly strong case, but the clincher is that Castro doesn't have the military muscle to go directly toe to toe with the US and risk upping the stakes in the Caribbean.

Hilariously, the US government pays rent on Guantanamo Bay annually, in the form of a cheque which the Cubans then refuse to cash. Sorry, back to topic.

There is some question as to whether these were, indeed, suicides.

A reasonable suspicion, considering the restraint chair used by guards at Guantanamo to force-feed hunger-strikers has been known to cause asphyxiation.
