This thread is certainly making me want to come to a meet. To be honest, I only had a vague idea that there were meets.

Meets are fun. You should definately go.

I thought it was impossible to use a fictionsuit that had already been used once

Haus used commas in the correct places. Not to do so is a schoolboy error.

And yeah, meets are lots of fun. Except when that Stoat guy gets shitfaced and talks about badgers all night, obviously.

Yeah, it's easy to make friends here on the board if you aren't completely demented and masquerade as someone else, arranging a pint is a doddle.

The badgers, rather than the masquerade.

Although, Stoats, if you want to talk about masquerading badgers, I'm in.

Badger: The Masquerade, anyone?

"What clan are you?"

"I am of Clan Wufflesnort. We maintain the masquerade."

"So no tool use or above-ground electrical goods, then?"

"Yeah. It's a bugger."

Meets are fun. You should definately go.

Meet people I've only interacted with on the boards? But that would confirm you all as real people, rather than the larger-than-life Justice League avatars I've built you all up in my mind to be! Can my puny mind handle that much reality?

I'll definitely have to give it a try sometime. Not tonight though as I've got a Mandarin class followed by an attempt at boosting the sales of the V For Vendetta film through non-magical means.

That's the Nosferatu you're thinking of Haus, the correct game is 'BADGER: The Wuffling', where Meles Sapiens ecowarriors sally forth from their Setts in War Form (Crinos, you know) and smash the imperialist infrastructure that destroys their shamanic lifestyle, stealing bread and milk from minions of the Wyrm.
Werebadgers. Do you see?

Meets: The main reason they are not more widely advertised is that a few of us know each other so well now, we just text if we fancy a beer rather than start a thread.

Erm, at the risk of sounding like a movie character, if anybody does go to that pub tonight: be careful; it could be a trap. Indeed, if I were you, I wouldn't go tonight; any other night, but not tonight. Not that you should be forced out of your usual stomping ground, but were you planning to go there tonight anyway? After all, going there tonight would be playing into hir hands, and though ze might be sad/sick/dangerous/etc, that doesn't me ze doesn't have enough friends with baseball bats to fill a transit van and lie in wait - an exaggeration, maybe, but I'm sure we've all seen enough nastiness to understand the unpredictable nature of nutters and the lengths some people will go to "win". Is it worth it?

Just sayin'.

Didn't Agatha Christie write a book about it?

Anyway, i'm not going to make the pub tonight as i'm not going to be able to get away from work in time. And i want to get back to catch the end of Siralan and the Armstrongs.

And i don't trust any of you anymore.

As I've said to those who were very kind and messaged me about tonight, I would love to attend a London meet next time, with more advance warning.

Okay, well clearly I have to ban the person in question which I will do immediately. I'm pretty sure that none of you are particularly frightened of the weirdo in question, but still, it's worth remembering that they may not even be anywhere near the pub in question, clearly just want to fuck around with people and would more than likely be freaked out if confronted in person. Sorry for being out of action in the meantime - eight hour time difference and all, you know?

Sorry to have to do this while you're off and should be doing exciting and groovy stuff, Tom. Hopefully that will restart shortly.

On gathering - personal choice, I guess. I doubt that somebody who has to pretend to be me to feel as if they have friends is likely to be able to fill a razor scooter with heavies, much less a transit van. However, there are possibilities for being watched, followed home and generally stalked more efficiently when you're alone and more vulnerable, and that may in turn cause problems for others. I doubt, personally, that there is a huge risk, but it may be a risk nonetheless. Might be wise to start by familiarising yourself with the photos of the usual suspects...

I don't think that's true now - it was once, but I'm fairly sure there's no longer anything stopping you from using an old name again when it's already been changed to something else.

I'd find this all very scary if I moved in your social circle. As it is I'm just feeling sorry for you all because of the gross creepiness of the situation.
So, yes, "be careful out there".

here's hoping if they are cannibals you give them the shits for weeks.

on a serious note, it might be an idea to have a quiet word with any of 'da management' who are friendly. if something does go funny, it's best if they know in advance.
i wouldnt mention the plank.

This thread is certainly making me want to come to a meet. To be honest, I only had a vague idea that there were meets.

I always wanted to go to a meet, but I know I’m fairly isolated from the rest of the board. I’m hoping to make another trip to London in the near future though, so maybe then.

As for not-Haus, is this really “the usual suspect’s” style? I don’t know too much about the incidents involving him, and hijacking suits has happened before, but should we maybe consider other possibilities than just him? We don’t have too much evidence about this (unless someone knows more about this than has been stated on this thread), and I think we might be cutting ourselves short, investigation-wise, if we simply assume it’s you-know-who without further evidence. In light of the libel situation a couple of weeks ago, I don’t think we should jump the gun with accusations until we know a little more. Clearly, this person has some issues. But lots of people do, if you know what I mean.

Oh, I don't think anyone's making assumptions, except "this is somebody who had to pretend to be someone else in the hope of getting somebody to talk to him". It's heartbreaking, but it's not specific. tom will run the usual IP checks when he gets back to the UK, I suppose, and alert whoever ought to be alerted in the way of ISPs and establishments if he feels it to be warranted.

Well, it's his style insofar as pretending to be Haus is his style.

I got in a big fight with a 'Haus' one time, but it was actually plank disguised.

Tom, I know what you mean. Maybe it was the thought of gangs meeting in pubs, but I didn't mean to go all 'West Side Story' with my repetition of the word "tonight" in my "be careful" post earlier.
