The time for civil disobedience has been and gone if you ask me, it's no longer an effective political strategy

I disagree. On one level - stopping the war - the march failed. On another, it suceeded - it's contributed to the widespread perception of Blair as a unpopular and autocratic leader, and the war as illegitimate, and fed into the slashing of his parlimentary majority.

What are you suggesting - that the armed struggle starts NOW?!

... 'cos if it does, and Barbelith is our army, I don't see much prospct of success. I think you'd find it problematic to get a five-a-side team together, let alone a revolutionary ELITE!1!!1!

Success! After cross-party concern from all sides of the house and civil liberties organizations the The Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill has been redrafted so it no longer allows for all UK laws to be amended without parliamentary scrutiny.

Getting up to speed again on this, I dropped in on Spy Blog, and found a counter to the link provided above. Apparently, the ammendments proposed are minor and still do not prevent the process being used to change itself. In other words, any so-called safe-guards can be tossed at any moment.
I admit the legal text itself is complete gibberish to me, so if I've missed something please point it out. However, if this information is correct, the bill is still a knife at the throat of democracy.

Read the article here. And also check Spy Blog's full page on the Bill here.
