eh? i think we got all that benny, along with the implication that he's doing something with those shelved ideas and i'd like to know what that is.

The Natural Way
19:07 / 04.07.09
also, it sounded to me like he said he wanted to use the bondage stuff because it had yet to be exploited effectively. my memory may be faulty, but i really don't think it is.....

Spaniel
19:21 / 04.07.09
Pretty sure the chappie behind Wonder Woman exploited it as often as possible

The Natural Way
12:58 / 07.07.09
oh, i know that. wrong choice of words.

The Natural Way
12:59 / 07.07.09
i meant 'in a way that has value', other than for knocking one off.

The Falcon

I just don't see why one can't shoot off a snail trail into one's work trousers and empower ladies, simultaneously

but it doesn't seem to work that way

The Hooded Utilitarian, Berlatsky, makes the case that the Marston stuff is actually the most feminist of all versions of the character; I don't know, I do like the Harry Peter art which big Alan used as a ref point in Promethea and he's never, like I, ever displayed dodge attitudes to the laydeez.

I don't think Grant's intent on doing Wonder Woman, iirc these ideas were going into the Vertigo project Atomika & I or whatever it's called these days, but there's not very many places for him to go if he continues down the wfh path, really. WW'd possibly be a worthwhile one. After reconceptualising Batman, Superman, the Flash, X-Men and the FF (at a stretch), there's not many places left to go, is there? Spider-Man, I suppose, but I can't imagine you'd want to get up in the morning to do a Green Lantern script after all that.

Never or Now!
06:41 / 23.07.09
I tend to use these words, like in Alice In Wonderland, to mean what I want them to mean rather than what they actually do mean.

...I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet?

Alex's Grandma
23:44 / 27.07.09
He's looking increasingly like a shaved Tommy Sheridan, isn't he?

Alex's Grandma
23:45 / 27.07.09
Perhaps now he's ready to write Wonder Woman.

ONLY NICE THINGS
10:36 / 28.07.09
I think he looks lovely! I have only nice things to say about Mr. M's personal style.

(Although Humpty Dumpty was in Through the Looking Glass... easy to confuse, mind!)

New Morrison interview in Coilhouse Magazine No. 4. Actual interview is not online, and it's hard to find the mag in most areas, but single issues can be purchased through the site.

http://coilhouse.net/category/comics/

Scroll down and you can read a brief paragraph and see the first page of the piece. It's quite lovely, all in color on glossy stock, with some amazing photos.

I think he looks wonderful, too. But, are the concerned fans who've been watching, and waiting, all this time, for Morrissey to have some sort of terrible accident in his ripped white jeans, going to have to wait around for very much longer?

Alex's Grandma
09:49 / 30.12.09
(I mean a social accident, obvs, not anything that would actually hurt him.)

P.S. Coilhouse Mag #4 is on sale at many Borders stores; check it out.

Borders? There's a problem right there. Three guesses what it is.

ONLY NICE THINGS
23:33 / 02.01.10
Well, Borders US and Borders UK were totally separately run, so that would probably not apply even if it were still a going concern in the UK. MrKismet is probably talking about the US. Lord knows where one would get a copy of Coilhouse in Merrie Englande, but no doubt there are ways.

Coilhouse #4 can be ordered directly from the publisher for US$15.00 per copy; see my link above. (The entire mag is gorgeous, with many counter-cultural delights.)

Congatulations, Nicomouse! It's lovely to see people achieving their dreams. Although the bit about the black Hulk having a great big old chap and wanting to assert his dominance over Joe Quesada through sexual violence felt a bit like... well, your id's showing a bit, is all. Still, creators create and editors edit, and both have their gifts.

(That sounded a lot like Alex's Grandma. Maybe this is what the world looks like to Alex's Grandma all the time!)

I just try to think about what Mark Millar would do in any given situation, these days. It looks like it was us that were wrong, not Mark.

Blame Eleggua for the Black Hulk scene, i take zero responsibility for it.

Not sure who comes in here anymore, but if anyone has scans of old interviews etc (Andrew and Spartacus, I know you guys sent me transcripts in the past), then Ben at deepspacetransmissions/ would be interested in hosting them. Ben's site hosts a great archive, with lots of things i'd never seen before. Contact details are on the page.

Oh, he might like to buy some of the original mags/fanzines off you as well (it's late, and I've had a bailey's)

I just clicked on 'how to format text, post links/etc.' and got this:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM, expecting T_NS_SEPARATOR in /usr/www/users/barbelit/barbelith/faq/index.php on line 89

BUT, I fulfilled a personal dream of interviewing The Grant himself - we figured we'd get goofy with him, do something other than the typical interview: This is a video of course -

Here's a transcript of Grant and Frank Quietly's talk at Glasgow Comic Con - probably worth it for the stuff on Multiversity (if you haven't read all about it elsewhere).

Jesus, it's so long since I've posted a simple html link that I screwed it up...

I never was a true expert at it, Poke It... and damned if I can easily recall it now. Good to know the board always has its handy guide for posting links etc.

Great piece; just read it. Thanks for posting --

Noteworthy (Grant & Frank asked for their philosophies on life. Frank Q. went first):

>> [Every Friday night my old friends and I talk about our philosophy] and it's an ongoing process, we've not quite got it pinned down yet. But I suppose "this is it" would be about as close as it gets at the moment. That would be my philosophy: "This is it."

Grant: No, I actually don't have a philosophy. Except don't eat guys like Aquaman if they wash up on the beach [laughs]. If you stick to that you'll be okay. The best philosophy is old Tim Leary's one - "find the others" ... I think that transcends everything else. "Find the others"; it justifies basically any pack behaviour. So go ahead and find the others [laughs].
