This should be a really good one, and I'm promoting it so I really want it to do well. If it does I could get an extremely good Southampton-based venue onside for all sorts of future fun. It replaces the above date at the Junction for 20th July:

NOISE ANNOYS - £5.00 on the door
Parts & Labor from Brooklyn, New York
Brooklyn trio Parts & Labor combines tumultuous noise with enormous, triumphant melodies on their latest album, Stay Afraid (Jagjaguwar records). Malfunctioning electronics howl in agony, drums rupture like fireworks, battle cries are belted through a monolithic layer of distorted bass and guitar. P&L revel in day-glo noise, charred drones, punk velocity and phoenix-like hooks--a unique blast influenced by the clamor of Husker Du, the bluster of Boredoms and the homemade spirituals of Neutral Milk Hotel.
For their new record, Parts & Labor sought a bigger, more expansive sound. Dan Friel increasingly juggles guitar alongside his trademark mutilated keyboard, while BJ Warshaw blankets everything with bass and additional electronic squall. They've picked up jackhammer drummer Christopher R. Weingarten, who hits so hard that the band was forced to double their amplifiers. The result is a pop record that yowls like noise, a noise record that captivates like pop.

Hunting Lodge from Bristol/Southampton, UK
Hunting Lodge make music at the point where the boredom has long since abated, the point where a kind of manic joy sets in, the dull chorus of 700 computer fans and phone operatives becomes giddily thrilling, and your every gesture becomes exaggerated and hilarious. In their ecstatic celebration of Nothing, Hunting Lodge salvage the pawnshop gold of Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, Boredoms, and King Crimson, infuse it in vats of piss and come away with base metal. Repetitive churning dirges framed by drunken skiffle, giddy house rhythms and inept free-form freakouts are clamped around lyrics about Whitby, a wizard and seagulls trapped in bins.

Yolk from Dunkerque, France
Yolk are trying again and again to mix, dissolute and break musical styles. There is always a fight between composition and total improvisation. They have worked in the past with the likes of John Butcher, Fred Frith, Jean Marc Montera, Jacopo Andreini, Kevin Blechdom, Frederic le Junter, Albert Marcoeur etc. They mix dub and thrash metal, waltz and experimental, jazz and surf rock. This band could sound like Naked City, Mr Bungle, Gong, Magma, Secret Chiefs 3.

Action Beat from Milton Keynes, UK
Improvised drum & guitar noise duo. For fans of Sonic Youth, Sightings or Skingraft Records. Their website claims they are "loud, intense and blisteringly spastic". Word.
