No actually I've just finished one. Thanks though.
And guess what I've got four essays to do over the Christmas period, Alas, four!

alas

Great! So long as I DON'T HAVE TO GRADE THEM. I have ummmmmm, I think 30 10-page research papers and 15, 15-page research papers and 15 finals to grade...so what's that... 60 papers? 60 LONG papers. To grade. That's approximately . . . 600 pages. This week.

4 papers? Phmmmph. The heart is, unfortunately, failing to bleed for you at the mo' as it's too busy wallowing in my own self-pity....

00:29 / 13.12.05
Ah that's all right alas! It not so much self pity as an impending sense of doom due to a very procastinatory nature. As soon as guilt and fear rear their ugly heads I'm off like a rocket!
Your pile sounds scarier indeed though.

I am busy procrastinating myself. And wanting to go House-elf on you: "Bad, Alas, Bad, Bad, Bad! Grade!"

However, I am, at this very moment, writing a letter of recommendation I promised I'd have done on...um. Friday? Totally forgot.

It's not just that I want to drag everyone down to my slovenly depths you know. There good games too.

I think I might head off to bed though. Goodnight Alas!

Good night DS! Hello Keggers! What news do you bring?

Saint Keggers
00:58 / 13.12.05
G'night Double Shrug. (I thought I was being ignored!)

Hello Alas. Alas, I bring no news. At least none newsworthy.

alas
01:18 / 13.12.05
Not ignored by me--I'm just preoccupied by trying to figure out how to spell "principaled" oops. It must be "principled." I always have a hard time with that pair. Despite the many mnemonic devices like: "The Principal is your Pal!" (In the US, a "principal" is the head of a public school--what do you call them in Canada?)

Saint Keggers
01:22 / 13.12.05
Uusally jsut "Asshole!"

We call them principals too.

alas
01:29 / 13.12.05
Heh heh. What a hideous job that would be, school principal. Is no one's pal.

Well, I am not a game-playing person, but I have friends bemoaning the lack of new X-boxes available this yule tide, even as I read that the new version is, well, not so great. I suspect many people on barbelith have opinions on this thing. Personally, I don't care at all, but I wonder if I can console, in particular, a friend of mine who promised her 14 yo son one IF he got good grades, and now, he did get those good grades (the principal is now his pal! all's right with the world!), but her "backordered" x box just got canceled and the only ones she can find are for $1000 or more on ebay.

I hate this kind of thing. It really does make me loathe Christmas. I'm sure her son is a fine kid, but, from a distance I want to say: get over it you spoiled brat....

heheh... yeah. And then yiu have to fight the urge to start in on the "In my days..." speech,

Fuck! I already launched right into the part where we got nothing for gruel for dinner! And liked it!

(Actually, I'm not sure what gruel is, truth be told.)

Saint Keggers
01:34 / 13.12.05
Here's a simple recipe for flour gruel:

2 teaspoons of flour

1 teaspoon of salt

Boil one cup water. Separately, drip water on flour and salt until it makes a paste. Add the paste to the boiling water. Stir to a semi-fluid consistency. Strain to eliminate film. Serve warm.

I think we used to make glue like that. For fun.

Yipes. I have had a pampered existence.

Any mage work done today, Kegs?

Hey, Stoatie! I was beginning to think I was alone, having finished the letter of recommendation and considering the call of the mattress. (One cup of herbal tea, first, I think.) Working tonight? Or are you on your week off?

Saint Keggers
01:57 / 13.12.05
Heya Stoats, how's things?

No, sorry Alas, no new mages today.

Good night, kegs, stoat, and all you lurkers...
