Street Fighter 2 on the Snes, Sagat is and always will be, a twat. Tiger, tiger, tiger, Tiger Uppercut, fuck off. Thanks to him I had a hole in my bedroom door.

Vega broke my bedroom mirror a good ten years ago.

Super Fantasy World. I'm playing that on my Megadrive emulator at the moment, and it's driving me mad. It's unfair - your ship is slightly too sluggish to react to certain enemies; when you die during a boss fight the boss regenerates; just when you think you've got the hang of the attack patterns, they change and become impossibly difficult to follow.
But, like a fool, I keep coming back for more. I think the music has drugs in it. Or something.

Hitman. Bought it yesterday, breezed up to "The Assasinatinon of Lee Hong". 6 hours I've been stuck in that fucking restraunt, slitting peoples throats. So much murder, I'm dying inside.

Oh, man. After having Shinobi on PS2 for about 2 years (I forget when it came out), I'm still only on level 6A...I'll play for a few days, get destroyed, and shelve it in disgust. I was probably stuck on the water level for six months.

The opening 'training' mission of GTA San Andreas got me. I failed that 7 times.

The opening mission

I completed GTA 3 and Vice City. Never got anywhere in SA.

The only game harder than R-Type was Daley Thompson's Decathlon. That game kicked absolutely everybody's ass until all the arcade machine buttons broke from kids frantically hammering at them with two fingers.

Remember the fucking pole vault?

Ninja Gaiden Black kicked the shit out of me. However, after I played the game once on Ninja Dog Mode, I didn't really have much trouble beating it a second time on Normal. Whereas, I got through God of War pretty quickly on God mode. I doubt I'll ever attempt NGB on Hard or Very Hard mode, though. I have a life...

Am I the only one who thinks Grand Theft Auto is more annoying than fun? I mean it would be cool if they'd have respawn points like in a normal game. But no, every time you fail a mission, you have to drive back to where you take it, then (sometimes) to where it begins, then do five different things and start over if you fail.

Their level design is brilliant but their controls are kinda clunky. And the designers are way too full of themselves for thinking so much repetition would be an enjoyment to play. It's like they use that to justify the game's adult content. Games are supposed to be fun, damn it!

Is anyone familiar with Operation Flashpoint? In my humble opinion, it is the most immersive, realistic first-person shooter in the world. What makes it the most evil game of all time is the fact that you only get one save per mission, and the missions can take more than an hour each to complete. Add to this the fact that you can be sniped from over 800m away and you get a lot of rage-moments, though you do learn how to use cover. Obsessively.

Dexter, I agree with you 100% on GTA. The controls are questionable, and the combat engine is PS1-level atrocious. Like when you're trying to kill a mob of thugs, but you're too close to the wall, so your character just points his gun up and shoots. It's so frustrating.

The way they set up some of their missions is irritating, too. Rockstar constantly uses time limits as a crutch to make things more difficult, which smacks of lazy, lazy programming to me. They also always seem to have one way that they want you to beat a mission, leaving you no room to improvise.

At least as annoying as fun. It seems like every games reviewer in the world was jocking GTA:SA as the BEST GAME EVER!!11!!!

Which is, quite frankly, laughable.

One of the hardest games I ever played - so many savage on foot levels where you're entire platoon gets wasted and you're left trying to take out the enemy alone only for th last guy to get you.
It tkes so long to adjust to the style of play. Running in 3rd person, then stopping dropping and aiming through the sight. Then getting up, always trying to remember where the sun is if climbing a hill. Squatting.

That savage level quite early on where everyone gets wasted and your'e left trying to travel 15 k to the extraction point alone. The tank stuff was great fun though. Never got to finish it as a friend of mine who shall remain an asshole for borrowing and loosing the game. Though I heard the last leves were different sides of the same operation which sounds amazing.

The sheer lenghts one was willing to go to find flanking cover did become redonculous.

The game I still find the hardest is Counter Strike when your team starts loosing heavily on a particular level and can just never recover against the oppositions tactics and positions.
