Raymond Briggs and Posy Simmonds have both been made fellows of The Royal Society of Literature. details here.

Fantastic news that points to greater recognition and wider distribution of graphic novels in the future.

This may be slightly radical but how about entering Deadline magazine into the list.

A broad list of talent, Brett Ewins, Steve Dillion, Jamie Hewlitt, Philip Bond, Alan Martin, Si Spencer and Shaky Kane to name a few. Iconic characters (that girl with the tank, Hugo Tate, Wired World, and then, later on Love and Rockets, Bastard Bunny, and Milk & Cheese to name but a few). Very of it's time but I've yet to find a magazine/comic that felt so right to me.

Hi Sleezenation,

You can get some of Chris Reynolds comic stuff right NOW by downloading it from Lulu.com

He put it up there recently, its cheap to download,if you dont mind reading it on your computer. or printed versions are available there too. Its brilliant stuff i think. artistically simple, but its the mood/tone of them that is the thing.

I first read them when i was 16 in 1986,and had never seen anything like them. Now, almost 20 years later, its been a nice little thrill to have Chris email me - just this month - to say that he liked my 'Beautiful things' book. Especially as his Mauretania comics is one of the influences on the comics in my book.

Excellent!
