Are we being fossilised right now?

it just occurred to me that the national library has some archive of websites. not entirely sure how that works, how they'd store it and what sort of archival life such information might eventually have. and that got me wondering...

would a chat room site like this, one you need to log into, so theortetically one that is strictly for the information of that group who are necessarily members of the set of barbelith members, would it be archived for future use? we are 'publishing' [as i understand it, in a legal sense] by making our statements available on electronic communications such as the internet, as we are, but what privacy do we have - contrarily, what might we make of some of our offerings on various threads if we could be assured we could come back when we're ninety and 'borrow' it from the library, sit down with a bovril for a good read!

any thoughts anyone? i'd be keen to hear what other ramifications and effects this has for you, as well as any philosophising or legal ranting about the matter and if it is a good or bad thing to do...

(has anyone done this before? please direct me if the case...)

Any idea why it stopped archiving in 2004?
