Sorry, what's the divine elemental quadralectic, when its at home?
well i just made it up i guess, hoping the four meaningful roots (divine, elemental, quad- and -lectic) would allow a suitable analysis of the phrases meaning. when four entities are able to communicate effectively among each other, the resulting flow of ideas is particularly dynamic and creative. im afraid i dont have a very good metaphysical or scientific explanation for why this happens. i imagine most of you would be sharp enough to grasp it a bit if you try drawing four dots (nodes) on paper and experimenting with how they can interact. three is not complex enough, five is too unweildy (the fifth element must remain abstract or out of reach).
darkbootie nailed the traditional elemental attributions as i would have done. but slotting each entity into a label is not as important as the relationship between them. assuming that ringo will embody all earth aspects etc will limit ones ability to understand the unique structure of the beatles as a timely event.
this is relevant to the discussion because rock music can only survive as a force for creativity and change. an efficient method for creating new 'life' is important.
abraxas is beyond duality. as a deity outside the universe of mankind, he(?) is able to mediate between such opposites as light and dark or good and evil or mind and matter. music is similarly disposed, being a sample of manydimensional reality. thus abraxas represents music in a pythagorean sense, and is perhaps less suitable as a selfdestructive rock martyr. in that sense, abraxas represents the balancing force of rock and roll on a prudish society. |
