Glancing at some magazine cover I saw the words "Tom feels betrayed by Katie! Katie's secret talks with Nicole". Very intriuged by this, I decided not to open the magazine.

So what's happened? Tom has given this girl his heart, some fame, and introduced her to Scientology. And she repays him by talking to his ex? This bird has flipped her wig.

Or wait. What if Tom was hitting her? No. No, that couldn't have happened. That's Tom Cruise for Hubbard's sake! He's a hero! But.....heroes do have flaws don't they? I mean even the Human Torch accidently burned someone one time. Oh man. If Tom did hit her, then I guess I'm on Katie's side. Her self worth shattered, she went to Kidman to see if Tom had hit her too. But not to build up a case against Tom! You see little Katie wanted to see if Tom beat all his girlfriends or just Katie. Because if he hit just Katie, then that must mean she did something wrong in her mind. Oh poor Katie.

I think it's perfectly fair to assume the liaison's working wonders for Holmes's career. But isn't it a little naive to then assume that controlling ol' Tombo's simply 'fallen in love' and is getting nothing else out of the deal?

I think Tombo's PR company may not be quite so good as the lovely Katie's. Maybe the deal was to do the falling in love thing, but then Katie's upped the ante*, she clearly being the lesser celebrity, so therefore having more to gain.

My point is, Cruise's 'people' have generally been notoriously good at rather heavy-handed damage limitation ie. suing (or threatening to sue) anyone alleging this that or the other against Cruise. If the 'hitting Katie' rumour has an identifiable point of origin, I'd expect them to be slapped with a lawsuit sharpish - along with anyone continuing to perpetuate the rumour.

Given all of which, I'd find it difficult to believe Cruise's PR agency is such that he's getting nothing from the liaison with Holmes. The Internet rumour-mill is obviously pretty rife with speculation as to what, exactly, he's gaining from romantic association with yet another attractive young up-and-coming actress, but it's probably unwise to speculate too explicitly here.

Again I've never heard anything about Tom Cruise hitting anybody at all! I didn't read it in some gossip magazine or internet thingie, I totally just wrote that because it sounded like silly celebrity gossip stuff. I don't think the "Tom hitting Katie" thing exists anywhere except on Barbelith at present.
