By the way, the above myspace link now has the final versions of three songs that'll be on the album, two of which are brand new and weren't on there previously. Silver Prince and Warning to Birds both now feature Terry Edwards on sax and trumpet (plus Dub Ghost, but that's not on the above link). I really love how I am Feudal Japan came out.

I picked up the album art today. It's looking lovely lovely lovely indeed. It'll probably be available in time for our December gigs.

It is finished!

The album has arrived.

I have the cases and the artwork, the CDs are in Bristol.

It'll be on sale at the December shows:

THU 1st Dec - The Qubar, Margate. With Mugstar.

FRI 2nd Dec - The Spice of Life, Soho, London. With Mugstar.

SAT 3rd Dec - Album (pre)Launch Party. At the Louisiana, Bristol. With My Way My Love, Mugstar, Geisha and King Alexander. £4 entry.

SUN 4th Dec - Freebutt, Brighton. With My Way My Love and Mugstar. £4 entry.

It's only seven quid for the CD. I imagine that's equivalent to a couple of pints if you're a Londoner (and it might be a cheap gig sale only price).

If you can't make it to the shows but want a copy then it should be on sale from our website soon.

Distribution is on Forte who distribute for Load records. So it might make it to some select shops, too. Don't know where and when yet...

I still haven't heard it all yet, so the prospect of having it in my hands as an unknown quantity is hugely exciting!

I have a few copies of this CD for anyone who wants one.

They're £7.00 each. Send me a PM with your address if you want one, and I'll send you the details.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
07:15 / 06.12.05
That's really quite an album, Seth. I'l be a bit more detailed when I've listened to it a few more times, and not just when I'm horribly pissed, but so far me likey.

Yay! Stoatie just gave me a copy as an early pressie - but I'm at work now, so will have to listen to the album when I get home. The thing is, I have to decide between giving Energy Czar or the Ape Of Naples (which also just arrived in the post today) the first spin.

What would you do?

Seth
13:03 / 06.12.05
Flip a coin. Or alternate, one track of each. Or, you know... listen to the legends first. We can wait. X

Mon Oncle Ignatius
14:25 / 06.12.05
I might slip them both on the decks and listen to them simultaneously. Maybe at the wrong* pitch. And looped.

*"differently adjusted" perhaps...?

Seth
15:09 / 06.12.05
Make sure you cover them in perforated cellotape first.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
15:33 / 06.12.05
What, and ruin the discs? I'd better burn some copies up. Hell, I'll just rip the tracks off both CDs, then shove them through software together until they mush up nicely. That should give a good first impression.

Actually, I know - I'll rip the albums to MiniDisc, then insert new track markers at intervals unrelated to the original songs, then shove them on random repeat together and see how that comes out.

Seth
21:55 / 06.12.05
I'm not sure why you have such an issue with ruining the discs, but you go for your high tech solutions if that's what you're all about...

Mon Oncle Ignatius
23:08 / 06.12.05
I guess if I ruin the HL disc, I'd just have to buy another...

I've only just made it through The Ape Of Naples (sorry, the legends won the toss for first play), so will save the Energy Czar for a louder time of day.

The Return Of Rothkoid
23:47 / 06.12.05
Must... purchase...

Is PayPal an option, Seth?

Seth
17:39 / 07.12.05
Yes, Paypal is an option. Mind if I bump up the amount to £7.50 to cover the charges?

Would you mind reviewing it for us, dude? That is, if you still do that kinda thing...

Seth
17:42 / 07.12.05
I'm now out of CDs that I can personally send for the time being.

Still: let me know if you want one and I'll PM you when I get some more in.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
17:53 / 07.12.05
Very good indeed, Seth (I've now listened to it while not pissed, and even better, while not hungover and frightened of loud things). Very very good.

Seth
17:58 / 07.12.05
Thank you! I think I'm still a little too close to it to be really objective.

Regrettable Juvenilia
21:49 / 07.12.05
'Dub Ghost' is a real revelation - straight away it's something that sounds different (to my ears anyway) than the Hunting Lodge live experience: suitable haunted, very jazzy. 'The Plough', on the other hand, is the equivalent to a hit single if you've seen Hunting Lodge live a few times, and here it sounds exactly like you'd want a recorded version to: monstrous, but also gleaming and precise. Like a state-of-art robot tyrannosaurus. Other faves so far include 'I Am Feudal Japan', and 'Cosmic Lightning'. Gotta love those titles.

Seth
04:03 / 08.12.05
I'm pretty pleased with how Feudal Japan came out. There's something about how the mix gives prominence to the drums and pulls back the bass that sounds almost poppy to me.

"There's something about how the mix gives prominence to the drums and pulls back the bass that sounds almost like I'm the most important thing on there."

I totally fucking should have pulled myself out of my ass in time to hook myself up with this before going back home... When may my filthy mitts be a-rubbing its pretty front?

Seth
11:33 / 08.12.05
Depends when I can get more of them. I'll let you know.

Seth
07:03 / 15.12.05
Energy Czar is now available to purchase from our website via Paypal.

Got the disc last week Seth - thanks! - but didn't have a chance to listen to it till last night.

I'll have to give it a couple more spins and get to the "being able to name a track when I hear it" stage before I can post anything decent, but my immediate reaction is: Absolutely ----ing blinding.

And drums to the fore - yessss!

What a lovely end to a lovely year: Number 18. On the album it's called Hero of the Beach.

Context for this... our singer is putting together a ZZ-Top tribute album featuring (hopefully) Part Chimp, Sickbay and Scout Niblet.

Click here for the Hunting Lodge contribution, Waiting for the Bus. I played on it and I find it terrifying.

Hope you enjoy, it should be available via this link for the next week.
