Hi everyone.

Our website currently has a link that previews some of the rough mixes of our album.

Click here to listen to four of the tracks...

Hope you enjoy them.

One of the new ones was played on Huw Stephens last night!

Very chuffed, Don't Point at My Neck

If you have a moment please click on the above link, download the tune and leave a comment. Every little bit helps.

Just checked out the four tracks from yer first post - THEM DO ROCK! Cracking stuff, Seth. Gimme the album.

Heh... we have to write the new album first, dude. There's still at least two songs that have to be written from scratch before we can finish the record we started.

Still can't download at the moment unfortunately, but nevertheless heard my first Hunting Lodge track on a mix-CD the other day - much impressed, needless to say!

That's pretty cool- first steps toward rock 'n roll stardom dude!

... and we've just finished the album.

It should have been mixed on Monday (sadly I couldn't be present) and we may well have some sax on their from Lydia Lunch's Terry Edwards (depends on how the timing works out).

Should be out by late November. I'll keep everyone posted.

Does it have a title?

Fantastic! Congratulations Seth, you must be massively chuffed.

I can't wait to hear it, me. Ooh, and how did you get to meet/know/use Terry Edwards?

Seth

We put on Lydia Lunch for two shows earlier this year, one in Bristol and another in Southampton (bizarrely the latter show sold better). Edwards was playing with her and we kept in touch. Again, don't know if it's going to come off due to the timing, but it'd be nice.

The tracks included (but not in order) are:

The Average Sound of Whitley Bay
I Am Feudal Japan
The Plough
Arkansas Pine-Bluff Golden Lions
A Warning to Birds
Silver Prince
Palixio, Nature Wizard
Hero of the Beach
Dub Ghost
Freebyrd
The Holy Quaternity of Country Singers

Smokestack Lightning
is our cover of/tribute to the Howling Wolf song, which will probably be on there uncredited to avoid legal problems. It only contains the riff and a couple of lyrics from the original, everything else has been changed.

The album title is almost 95% certain to be Energy Czar. We were going to call it Wedding-Heat after our very own Lither, and I even went as far as asking said strange one, but I was out voted at the last hurdle. Sorry wedding-shame.

Oh, and the above myspace link still works if you want a preview of four tracks.

I forgot you had a song about Whitley Bay, which is where I grew up. Why do you have a song about Whitley Bay?!? I can't remember if you ever explained it to me or not?

Two years from now you'll use methodologies adapted from the Gnostic Shaman Gonzo No-Wave Workbook to travel back in time along the bass strings that hold the cosmos together, whereupon you'll ejaculate the idea into the heads of Dan Chandler and Paul Brown with semen flung from your were-anteater cock.

Well you get a red hot A+ on song titles along.

looking forward to hearing it!

Damn, that were-anteater cock is always getting me into trouble.

You're not going to like this, but "Energy Czar" does immediately make me think of the Kaiser Chiefs... which is not something I like to think about. Czar, Ceasar, Kaiser, etc. I reckon "Wedding Heat" is much better.

Seth

Pah. We will take the name and cover it in glory...

... or mud.

It's terrible when crap bands make good words out of bounds, isn't it?

Apparently my idea of naming a band "Kaiser Bash" is out of the question for similar reasons.

"Energy Czar" and "Wedding Heat" are both astoundingly good album titles by the way, tho I'm sure you know that already. Either way, I hope it's gonna have mind-destroyingly OTT cover art to match.

A picture of the Were-anteater cock would be a good start.

I'm pretty sure that the cover art is going to be done by Michael Shores. Although I can't say for sure, I don't know what's been sorted out on this front.

Our singer is a designer, so I trust that he'll work something good out.

A picture of the Were-anteater cock would be a good start.

I would have to be paid more money than I suspect Hunting Lodge would be prepared to fork out - maybe on the second album... I'm not ruling it out... I just expect fair compensation for my trouble.

Are you calling us cheap?

Tread carefully. There are older and fouler things than rude bwoy hoodoo mages in the dark places of Barbelith.

i think you're probably the greatest band in the world & wish you every success. that's truly awesome stuff, really the heirs to the whole Birthday Party thing.

do you have a record deal?

If you decide against either of those album titles, I think 'Facial Tweed' might work. Just a thought.

Although you might also then have to change the name of your band to 'Nervous Twitch'. So maybe not.

Why thank you, Anth.

We're putting the album out ourselves on Farm Girl (Dan's kinda-pseudo-label-ish). We'll be selling it from the website. It will have the power of Ten Tigers!

...come to think of it, Ten Tigers is a much better album name. Although it's probably more of a band name...

Weeeeee! The album's being mastered. I am giddy with excitement.

Nah, if you were called Ten Tigers you'd have to grow a poodle perm. And I don't see that suiting you, somehow...

Anthony
04:10 / 26.10.05
you should be signed dude.

Seth
10:24 / 26.10.05
I dunno. Being signed has pros and cons and it's certainly not the be-all and end-all of being in a band. If we got a worthwhile deal from a company we respect then we'd probably consider it, but we're already doing the things we want to do and having the wrong deal may well detract more than it adds.

Anth- have you seen HL play? They're awesome- both in the sense of "really good" and the sense of "really scary".

Seth
02:42 / 27.10.05
Thank you, Stoatie. The scariness isn't wholly intentional though. We're a party band!

No joke, that is the best album cover I have seen in years. Yes!

I've seen the rest of the album art now and I can safely say that we're going to be a very well dressed band indeed.
