Fallen Angels is definitely my favourite Wong Kar Wai film, I thought about mentioning it in my earlier post actually because I only saw it for the first time last year and I definitely prefer it to the others.

You should probably only watch In the Mood for Love if you're feeling contemplative.

Ignore some dodgy bits of script and acting (especially from Micheal Hutchence)

*splutters*

Dude, dodgy acting? Hutch is fucking brilliant in Dogs In Space. He’s got to, what, be utterly irresistible while saying almost nothing, and acting like a complete pig. I mean, that can’t be too easy. Not even if you look like Michael Hutchence.

Totally seconding yr nomination, though. Why, it is teh Best Film Ever.

I know what you mean , Bedhead. I just had a couple of cringing attacks last time I saw the film with a group of new kiwi friends. The amount of blag and hype I put into getting them to see it made me WAY too critical...
stoopido moi.
Micheal rocks, like the god he always was/is

Fallen Angels is definitely my favorite WKW film as well, it may be the best shot film of all time, every single image is just gorgeous. I love the way he finds beauty in capturing the modern world, because we tend to associate that sort of sumptuous visual with period pieces. All the camera techniques, the music, just great.

Dammit, Keggers, I was going to say that. Um... fuck. Um... Where the Buffalo Roam. Best. Nixon. Ever.

Chinese Odyssey 2002 is the funniest film I have seen for quite a while. I don't know a great deal about Chinese cinema, but enough to know that this is a spoof, a Chinese "Airplane" perhaps.

Happiness.

One messed up movie. Prepare for headfuck.

Solitaire Rose as Tom Servo

My favorite Nixon on film is "Secret Honor", directed by Robert Altman...it is adapted from a play, and it kind of shows, but it simply follows Nixon around the White House as he prepares to leave the White House after he has resigned.

You want zombies!

Dellamorte Dellamore - Italian-made zombie flick from 1994 starring Rupert Everett. Imagine Evil Dead 2 played as a completely deadpan art movie. It's an utterly (and intentionally) hilarious, fantastic movie. Also released under the title Cemetary Man.

Versus - Japanese flick, billed as Yakuza vs. zombies, but with large elements of Highlander too. It. Makes. No. Sense. Is amazing, and pointless.

Wild Zero - another Japanese flick starring the utter genius that is Guitar Wolf. A love affair that transcends gender! Guitar picks that kill! A psychotic drug kingpin in gold lame shorts! Zombie snogging! Aliens, and the greatest way to dispose of an attacking alien mothership EVER! Rock n' roll has no boundaries!

Ethan Hawke

Fallen Angels is actually my least favorite WKW film. It's all frosting to me...too visually arresting at the expense of everything else. It's all atmosphere. Not that I don't like it; I just like the other ones better.

I watched Blacula last night, for some reason. It was pretty good.

Fallen Angels is the most Goth.

Also, please watch in sequence:

Days of Being Wild before
In the Mood for Love before
(the Hand, his short piece from Eros, before)
2046

Thin Red Line - I love that film.

Collateral is actually quite decent.

But I'd recommend Basket Case...

You know...for kids.

Ever seen Babette's Feast? One of, if not my most, favourite film. In fact, I think I'll go and dig out the dvd right now.... Such a feelgood movie.
